Zenith 146 gives faster
Emergency Service
Residents of the Vance
boro area are reminded
that dialing 0 and then
asking for Zenith 146 is
still the surest way of
getting fast fire and rescue
service. When a person
calls this toll free number
it will automatically put
him in touch with either
the Fire Marshall office
during the day or the
Sheriff department at
night. This way 24-hour
service is guaranteed.
When a call is placed to
this number the receiver
will ask for the name of the
caller and the location of
the fire or rescue. The
dispatcher will then
immediately push a switch
which automatically setoff
the alarm in Vanceboro
and monitors of the
firemen and rescue squad
members. The dispatcher
will then relay the message
giving the location and
type of fire or rescue if
known.
The new Emergency
Dispatch Service which
was reported on in last
week’s Highlights should
be used if a person needs
police or sheriff protection.
When a call comes in for
the police, it can be relayed
to the policeman while he is
in his patrol car. However,
the Zenith 146 number is
still designed to handle fire
and rescue calls, since the
other number may not
always be monitored.
