This is only the beginning of the real cost that must be paid. The first soulshaking jolt comes when the judge announces his determination. A person convicted of DUI a second time within a 10-year period faces an automatic jail term of not less than three days, nor more than one year. In addition, he or she faces a possible fine of not less than $200 nor more than $500, and a loss of driving privileges for four years. “It’s easy to avoid all these problems,” says Col.
