Page 4, West Craven Highlights, May 27,1982 Vanceboro Softball League Last week ten teams took the field in an effort to capture the winning honors for the week. Several teams made it through the week without losing, while several other teams suffered upsets during the week. Monday night’s game was rained out and rescheduled for Friday night. The games for that night showed wins for C & E Logging, Senators, and M & B, while Pugh Distributing, Caton and Garris #2 suffered a loss for the night. Tuesday, May 18, was the first games played. This was the night for upsets. Kite’s Supermarket came out strong and downed V & J. Billiards in the opening game. Garris Logging #1 upset Ron’s Paint & Body Shop with a strong comeback after trailing in the game. Pugh Distributing took the third game but they knew they had played a very storig Caton team. Thursday, May 20, was the second win for the Senators in a close contest with Garris #2. Kite’s Softball Injuries In a fresh play at first base, two softball players from Vanceboro League received injuries. Pictured above is Eddie Godley who ran off first and Glen Seamster at third threw to first to catch Eddie for the out but the ball struck Eddie in the back and glanced off and hit Sasser in the face. Sasser received lacerations of the face. Both were transported by Vanceboro Rescue Squad to Craven County Hospital where they were treated and released.
