If the little pests have invaded your home; there are some measures you can take to remove them. A dust containing four to five percent malathion or sevin can be used. These dusts are safe and effective on mature dogs and cats. Just rub the dust into the animal’l fur, all the way to the skin. As a precaution, change your pet’s flea collar often, especially in warm weather. A systemic treatment is now available, involving giving your pet a small pill at prescribed intervals. 'The material gets into the pet’s blood, and the flea is killed when it feeds on the blood. Ask your veterinarian about this treatment. If fleas have already invaded your home, fight back with a combination of good housekeeping and insecticides. First, clean infested rooms several times with a vacuum cleaner. This includes the thorough cleaning of carpets, rugs, upholstered furniture and other spots where fleas or larvae may be hiding. A banquet for the West Craven High School FBLA was held at 70 East Fish Camp recently. Joan Taylor, President for the 1981-1982 school year installed the officers during a candlelight ceremony. The officers are: Wendy Adams, President; Lewis Stotesbury, Vice-President; Brenda Bowen, Corresponding Secretary; Michelle Register, Recording Secretary; Margaret Barnhill, Treasurer; Jodie Walker, parliamentarian; Teresa Clark, Historian; and Jane Smith, Reporter. Special guests included Mrs. Shirley Eriksson and Ms. Rhonda Cotten, advisors; Robert Jolly, Principal; and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Taylor, Jr. The letter "e” is most often used ter in the English guage. The letter however, begins more words than any other letter. The number of married women in the work force with an employed husband present rose by nearly 6 million in the 1970’s.
