Mrs. Marietta Fulcher opened the meeting with prayer and their theme song, “He’s Still Working On Me.” Mrs. Fulcher played a tape about a minister’s experience with a young woman that had been raised as a witch. She was possessed with demons. It told of some of their rituals, her conversion and her demons being cast out and other valuable information for young and older people. The youth meetings are held the 1st and 3rd Wednesday night of each month. All interested young people are encour aged to attend. Mrs. Alma Drake dismissed with prayer and everyone enjoyed soft drinks and popcorn. There were 15 attending. Jaycee’s Attend College The New Bern Jaycee President Bill Faulkner and 9 other chapter officers attended the North Carolina Jaycee Local Officers Leadership College on June 4th, 5th and 6th at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Local Officers Leadership College is held annually to train incoming officers in the management skills and programing responsibilities needed to better service the community. Over 400 Jaycees from all across North Carolina attended the three day session according to Jim Cole, President of the North Carolina Jaycees. The officers received instruction in effective communications, community development programs, public relations, the training of committee chairmen and the running of effective meetings were but a few of the topics covered. “The New Bern Jaycees officers and their President, Bill Faulkner, are to be commended,” said President Cole, “for showing the initiative to attend this year’s Leadership College. I’m sure the ideas and techniques they learned will prove a real benefit to both the members of their chapter and to the community the New Bern Jaycees serve.” Other New Bern officers attending the Leadership College were: Gary Fulcher, Int. V.P; Sonny Dolzer, State Director; Gary Jones, Treasurer; Carey Purifoy, Secretary; Lee Hayes, Chairman of the Board; Pat Faulkner, Director; Ed Posta, Director; Charlie Whitford, Director; and Frankie Fulcher, Fair Assoc, member.
