Youth Meets By Alma Drake On Wednesday night, September 15, 1982, the youth of the Vanceboro Pentecostal Holiness Church held its regular meeting in the Rev. Dave Fulcher Fellowship Hall. Mrs. Alma Drake called the meeting to order and welcomed each one. She read Ecclesiastes 12. Miss Frankie Moore lead the prayer. Miss Rhonda Fulcher read a story entitled, "The Job Nobody LHd.” The characters were Bill- EVERYBODY, Dan-SOMEBODY, Mike-ANYBODY, and Joe-NOBODY. The town was called DARKNESS. The four owned the only lantern in that poor country. ANYBODY would make a motion to take the light somewhere, but SOMEBODY would say. Don’t let the call bother you, if souls are lost it was meant to be. They kept the lantern for their own selfish reason so distress calls quit coming because NOBODY would bring it. The brothers were the members of the St. Ichabod’s First refrigerated Church. SOMEBODY always made excuses not to attend. EVERYBODY was always too tired. ANYBODY slept through the service ’cause he was so bored. So NOBODY attended church regular. NOBODY was the most honorable of the brothers, NOBODY tithed regularly, NOBODY helped work on the church building, and when the pastor asked for help in church affairs, NOBODY volunteered. One day a missionary visited, “Just what we need”, said SOMEBODY to himself. Another missionary came to beg money but couldn’t get ANYBODY’S attention. So with tears in his eyes he told of the thousands of souls perishing for lack of light. The harvest is so plenteous, but the laborers are few. Won’t you come over and help us. They had a hassel over what to do. EVERYBODY would say don’t throw your life away so easily. Think of what it will cost you--your future, your money, your family, your job, education, marriage, loneliness, even sickness and perhaps death. Can you guess who finally responded to the call? You’re right, NOBODY did! John Drake read a story that told about a woman riding through a ghetto to get to work. She would always see the old man sitting in a chair on the front porch. She felt the leading to stop so she did, the man’s wife was a Christian. The old man was very sick and this woman lead him to Christ. A few days later the chair was unoccupied. The old man had died. The lady was so glad she had stopped so when she stood before the Lord she wouldn’t be empty handed. Mrs. Drake gave the benediction.
