Volume 6, Number 47 Vanceboro, North Carolina Thursday, November 25, 1982 Phone 244-0780 16 Pages Member of the North Carolina Press Association 20 Cents Weyerhaeuser Shelter Staff Writer Lee Johnson, Park Commissioner for Town of Vanceboro, has launched a long awaited park project, the public picnic shelter.. Several years ago Weyerhaeuser Corporation donated $1,500 to build a picnic shelter in the Vanceboro Park. Mr. Johnson supervised the pouring of the foundation of the shelter last week. The shelter will consist of a fireplace in the middle which will be usable for two groups at the same time. Church, private and civic groups will have the shelter available for social functions which require outdoor facilities. A road has been cut to the site for Vanceboro Park bringing in tables and chairs. Parking for cars will not be accommodated at the site, but plenty of street parking will be available. Vanceboro is still growing and you can help it grow by taking care of the conveniences that are provided for the use of the public. It is your public duty to report any destruction of public property to the proper authorities. Without an all-out effort by the citizens to aid in keeping our town beautiful, the town aldermen can do very little to provide such facilities as the park and the Weyerhaeuser Shelter.
