Community Watch
Does It Agrain
A most interesting and well attended
Community Watch Meeting was held in the
Caton Fire Department building last Saturday
night. The program was centered around the
importance of guarding against rape. The New
Bern Police Department's Crime Prevention
IJnit presented the program which consisted of
discussion, questions, and a crime and violence
test on rape.
'Those presenting the program were Sgt. Pat
Spicer, Crime Prevention Officer; Captain P.O.
Rodgers, Crime Prevention and Training
Officer; Mary Coleman, Council on Women and
Project Coordinator for ther rape program; W.
David McFadyen, District Attorney; and
W.C.“Pete” Bland, Craven County Sheriff.
Ms. Spicer opened the meeting with the

and Gene Whitford who said “I would probably

WCHS Graduates
To the Graduates of 1983: There is nothing in
being superior, the true nobility is in making you
a better person each day - to be aware of this,
strive to improve yourself. Plato emphazied,
“self-discipline is the greatest victory of all:
contool your habits and make the most of your
abilities, study to learn”. Shakespeare; “This
above all: to thine own self be true.” Wolf: “What
is happinew? If we want to know happiness, we
must seek it, not as if it were a pot of gold at the
end of the rainbow, but among human beings
who are living, fully, the good life.
Congratulations to the Graduates of West
Craven High School. Prove to people - “What is
Education”.
