The program was centered around the importance of guarding against rape. The New Bern Police Department's Crime Prevention IJnit presented the program which consisted of discussion, questions, and a crime and violence test on rape. 'Those presenting the program were Sgt. Pat Spicer, Crime Prevention Officer; Captain P.O. Rodgers, Crime Prevention and Training Officer; Mary Coleman, Council on Women and Project Coordinator for ther rape program; W. David McFadyen, District Attorney; and W.C.“Pete” Bland, Craven County Sheriff. This entitle-1 ment was granted pursuant to ’Dtle I of Public Law 874 which provides financial assistance to I schools in federally affected areas. [ In a telephone conversation with Dr. Ben Quinn, Superintendent, New Bern-Craven County Schools, he stated that this was anticipated money and shows up on the 1984 budget as a balance amount.
