Farm Life Alumni
May 11
Plans are now being made for the upcoming 64th annual Farm
Life School Alumni Banquet and Dance on May 11th. The
banquet will be in the school cafeteria beginning at 7:00 p.m.
with the dance following in the school gym at 9:00 p.m.
Everyone seems to be excited about this year’s alumni meeting.
Last year there were 255 in attendance, the largest number in
many many years. Several classes are making plans for reunions
this year. 'There will be reserved tables for the classes of 1934,
1944, 1954, 1964. There will also be a reserved table for the
handicapped who need to have dinner served at their table.
The 1984 Alumni Officers are: President-Gray Lancaster, Jr.;
Vice President - Robert Jolly; Secretary & Treasurer - Janice
Morris: Asst. Secretary and Treasurer - Peggie Mills; Food
Committee - Kathy Oakes and Hazel Duncan; Table Decorating-
Ray and Elva Matthews, Lucille Adams and Carol Holmes;
Program - Judy McLawhorn and Nanci Broadway; Nominating
Committee - James and Brenda Ipock; Dance and Decorating
Gym - Pete White and James and Joanne White.
The executive committee met on Monday night, April 23 at the
home of President Gray Lancaster. All committees reported
that plans are well underway for a very enjoyable evening.
All former graduates and those who attended Farm Life High
School and graduated from another school are invited to attend
the banquet and bring a guest with them. President Lancaster
urges all alumni to come and enjoy a delicious meal, an
interesting program, and a time of reunion with former class
mates and old friends.
Plans are being made for the annual dance which will be in the
gym after the banquet. The Hit Run Band will be performing for
the dance. Admission will be $3.00 per person.

Ipock and Beasley vehicles collided at intersection of River Road #1400 and
Weyerhaeuser Road #1482.
Ipock and Beasley Accident
The occupants of the Jpock vehicle, Mrs.
Brenda Ipock and daughters Diane and Dana of
Rt. 1, Box 299, Vanceboro, were transported to
Craven County Hospital where Mrs. Ipock and
Diane were placed in intensive care. Dana was
treated and admitted to the hospital for
observation.
Ralph Beasley, driver of the truck involved in
the accident was also transported to the hospital
where he was treated and released. Mr. Beasley
was charged with failing to yield right of way.
Three rescue squads responded to the accident.
Rescue 15 of Vanceboro, Rescue 30 of Township
9, and the Advance Life Support Squad from
Craven County Hospital.
WOODMEN CARE—Under the leadership of
|Ks Wetherington and Vicki Heath, the Ft.
’iR-nwell Girl Rangers Lodge 1355 presented a 2
X 3 North Carolina State Flag to West Craven
Middle School Media Center. The group had the
flag made especially for the school. Rangers you
have done it again; shown your CARE.
TOBACCO COURSE HELD—Glenn Forrest, center, of
Craven County is one of 47 young tobacco farmers who attended a
Tobacco Short Course conducted by the North Carolina
Agricultural Extension Services with the assistance of a grant-
in-aid from Philip Morris, USA. Mr. 0. Witcher Dudley, III,
Vice President, Leaf, Philip Morris, USA, (left) and Dr. Chester
Black, Assoc. Dean and Director, N.C. Agricultural Extension
Service (right) presented certificates to those who completed the
four-day course. The group made an all-day bus trip to
Richmond, Virginia, to visit the Philip Morris leaf processing,
manufacturing and research facilities. All other sessions were
held at the McKimmon Center on the North Carolina State
University campus in Raleigh.
