Fifteen students and three Hodges stated his reading had chaperons from West Craven High School spent their Easter holidays touring England. Mrs. Jeanne Arbegast, Mrs. Patricia Eatmon, and Ms. Barbara Eatmon accompanied the group on the trip. Comments from the students were varied. Many of the students had not flown commercially and most of them had not visited outside the U.S.A. When asked about the best part of the trip, Lisa Carpenter said, “I really enjoyed our trip to the Beefeater.” The Beefeater is an English restaurant where you are treated to the delights of a Medieval Banquet complete with Henry VIII, jesters, and knights; Hud Weiss stated, “Seeing the Medieval artifacts and getting back home.” Allen Thomas said “I liked meeting the people, visiting historic sites, looking at the Punk Rockers, and spending my money on bargains.” Jim given him some insight about Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, and Westminister Abbey, but finally getting to see them was exciting and certainly the best part of the trip. Most of the students were not pleased with the food served at the restaurants. Victor Jones, Jr. stated the food was the least enjoyed part of the trip. He explained that restaurants in England are without sanita tion ratings and many of the restaurants were dirty and not very enticing. The places of high interest visited were Salisbury, Canterbury, Stratfcrd-upon- Avon, Dover, Bath, Trafalgar. Square, Big Ben, Westmini ster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Wax Museum, Tower of London, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Canterbury Cathedral, Roman Baths, Shakespeare's House Oxford University, and saw the White Cliffs of Dover. ECU Graduation List Announced East Carolina University conferred degrees on 2,360 students at the 75th ECU Commencement on M^^. The ECU graduates are from 85 of the state’s 100 counties, from 22 states and District of Columbia and from 7 foreign countries. Composition Course Offered The English Department of West Craven High School is offering a two week non-credit course in improving composi tion skills. The course will be held from June 18-June 29 during regular summer school hours, 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. at West Craven High. The cost will be $34, paid before the first session.
