Visit England

Fifteen students and three Hodges stated his reading had
chaperons from West Craven
High School spent their Easter
holidays touring England.
Mrs. Jeanne Arbegast, Mrs.
Patricia Eatmon, and Ms.
Barbara Eatmon accompanied
the group on the trip.
Comments from the students
were varied. Many of the
students had not flown
commercially and most of
them had not visited outside
the U.S.A.
When asked about the best
part of the trip, Lisa Carpenter
said, “I really enjoyed our trip
to the Beefeater.” The
Beefeater is an English
restaurant where you are
treated to the delights of a
Medieval Banquet complete
with Henry VIII, jesters, and
knights; Hud Weiss stated,
“Seeing the Medieval artifacts
and getting back home.” Allen
Thomas said “I liked meeting
the people, visiting historic
sites, looking at the Punk
Rockers, and spending my
money on bargains.” Jim
given him some insight about
Buckingham Palace, Windsor
Castle, and Westminister
Abbey, but finally getting to
see them was exciting and
certainly the best part of the
trip.
Most of the students were not
pleased with the food served at
the restaurants. Victor Jones,
Jr. stated the food was the least
enjoyed part of the trip. He
explained that restaurants in
England are without sanita
tion ratings and many of the
restaurants were dirty and not
very enticing.
The places of high interest
visited were Salisbury,
Canterbury, Stratfcrd-upon-
Avon, Dover, Bath, Trafalgar.
Square, Big Ben, Westmini
ster Abbey, Buckingham
Palace, Wax Museum, Tower
of London, St. Paul’s
Cathedral, Canterbury
Cathedral, Roman Baths,
Shakespeare's House Oxford
University, and saw the White
Cliffs of Dover.
