forth by the Academy. The

Raft Race
Concert
To Be Held
“We’re always looking to add
something interesting to the
event.” That’s the reason,
according to WAZZ General
Manager, Jack Quick, for this
year’s first GTRRR Concert as
part of the 9th Annual WAZZ
Great Trent River Raft Race.
The concert, jointly
sponsored by WAZZ and the
New Bern Shrine Club, will be
at the Sudan Temple, at 9 p.m.,
Friday, June 8. Featured will
be both the Bill Lyerly Band
and the Super Grit Cowboy
Band. Both groups are well
known throughout the state
and have had regional and
national exposure. A factor in
their selection, according to
Quick, was that not only are
both groups quite good, but
they have not generally
performed in a concert type
setting open to the entire
family.
Advance tickets are $5 and
may be purchased at the
following locations: Bryant
McLeod, New Bern; Diener’s
Bakery, Greenville; Sports
man’s Den, Morehead City;
Unique Fashions, Jacksonville
Curtis Mathes, Havelock;
Bob’s TV & Appliance in
Ayden and Greenville; and
Southeastern Catalog Show
room, Kinston.
Proceeds from the concert,
along with other Raft Race
activities go to the Shriner’s
Burned and Crippled Child
ren’s Hospitals.
