Yale Forestry Students Visit
Weyerhaeuser Company
played host last week to a
group of graduate students
from the Yale University
School of Forestry. The group
according to Research
Forester Joe Hughes is the
third one from Yale to visit
Weyerhaeuser in as many
years. The twenty member
team is on its annual southern
forest tour under the guidance
of Associate Professor Clark S.
Binkley. During the two-day
visit on May 26 and May 26 the
group was given a tour of the
Plymouth Solid Wood
operation and then got a first
hand look at Weyerhaeuser’s
High Yield I''orest.
The Yale graduate students
were very interested in
Weyerhaeuser Company’s
overall approach to pine
plantation management. We
showed them everything from
regeneration of harvested
areas to the bedding, water
management, fertilization,
weed control and thinning
which are integral parts of our
intensive forest management
program.
