FORT BARNWELL BULLETIN BY MRS. B.H. MITCHELL Women’s Day Services will be held on the first Sunday in October at St. Edwards F.W.B. Church in Ft. Barnwell. The guest speaker for the morning service will be Eldress Janie Harris of Antioch F.W.B. Church in Kinston, N.C. The St. Edwards' Choir will render the music. All members and friends are Tvited to come in and share ’’the services. Elder William Waters is pastor. * * * There will be a gospel singing at the Fort Barnwell Elementary School on Friday night, October 5, at 7 p.m., featuring Willie Pittman, The Burden Lifters from Richmond, Virginia. Also, Slim and the Supreme Angels from Wisconsin and Goldsboro, and “Traveling Stars” of Fort Barnwell. The Admission will be $5.00 at the door. Everyone is invited to come out and hear these good gospel groups, and to hear their new albums, for the purpose of raising money for the building fund at St. John’s A.M.E. Zion Church. Rev. C. Davis and Mr. Roy Mitchell are sponsors. * • * The Fort Barnwell com munity was saddened again in the passing of Mrs. Ethel M. Blount Skeens. She was a lifetime resident of the community and had worked in the churches, in domestic service and had been an employee of the New Bern- Craven County School System for 12 years. The children will remember her as one of the lunch room workers who helped served delicious meals. Mrs. Skeen was funeralized on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. She will be missed by relatives and friends in our area. Ms. Sudie Skeens was her daughter and Mr. Velma Skeens was her son.
