Jort Barnwell Bulletin By MRS. B. H. MITCHELL The descendants of the late Elizabeth and Sam Harris gathered at the home of Mrs. Viola Harris Lovick and her niece who lives with her, Eldress Ethel G. Mills, on Saturday for the tenth family reunion. Family members of two or three generations came to join in. A bus from the New York area brought many while others came on automobiles. There seemed to be about three hundred people including friends from the ^fe|rounding area. Everyone ^^bared to be in high spirits on the crisp cool day. There was plenty of food and refreshments for the entire group. The group enjoyed sharing their experiences in life from early days up to the present time. Mrs. Lovick expressed a deep concern of her gratitude of seeing so many members of the family together and she gave praises to the Lord for his care and keeping. She is one of the nine children who now survive out of a family of twenty-one children. They were reared on a family farm in the Pitch Kettle section of Craven County. Her sister, Mrs. Lorena Gaskins and her husband, Charlie, still cultivate some of the family farm. The other brothers and sisters in attendance were— Mrs. Lorena Gaskins of Vanceboro, N.C., Mrs. Martha Gibbs of Maysville, N.C., Mrs. Lillie Spencer of Baltimore, Md., Mr. Willie (Buster) Harris of Ft. Barnwell, N.C., Mrs. Rosa White, Mrs. Ida Charity and Mrs. Sarmantha Lenard ail of Brooklyn, NY, also Mrs. Ziffie West of Mount Olive, NC, Mrs. West is one of the oldest and may be in her late eighties. There were family members from many areas of the United States and one member had been a missionary in Africa, it was reported that they had a glorious time together. * * * Mr. Leroy Huggins was pleased to have his son, Leroy B. Huggins, Jr, and his sister, Barbara H. Coley and his brothers Thad Huggins and Vannie Huggins all of N.Y., to visit with him during the week end. His nephew, Robert Huggins, and niece Andrea Coley visited him also. The Mt. Zion UC Church of Ft. Barnwell had many out-of- town visitors for their quarterly meeting service. A chartered bus brought members and friends to worship in the Annual Home Coming services. The visitors and home friends joined in to make the service a success. * * * Mr. Aaron Mitchell of Bronx, N.Y., Mr. William Penn Mitchell and Mr. Ralph Mitchell of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Mrs. Mattie Speight of New York, N.Y. arrived in Ft. Barnwell to share a few days of leisure and vacation with family and friends In the community. * * * Mrs. Pauline Cobert, sister to Mrs. Roberta Johns and Mrs. Elsie Miller departed for Salisbury, Md after spending about seven months in Ft. Barnwell. ,, . Leroy B. Huggins of St. Albans, N.Y. spent a short visit with his grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Dal Mitchell of Ft. Barnwell on Sunday afternoon. * * * Bishop W.H. Mitchell of the Northwest Conference “A" Division of the United F.W.B.
