Craven-Pamlico
Juvenile Restitution
Program
The Craven-Pamlico Juvenile Restitution Program
encourages the juvenile offenders to reflect on his behavior and
accept responsibility for misconduct. It enables the juvenile to
“make whole” the victim by performing age-appropriate
community service at selected worksites. By participating in the
program, the juvenile has an opportunity to develop a greater
sense of self-worth and community pride, and to contribute to the
beautification and service delivery of his community.
The Craven-Pamlico Juvenile Restitution Program provides a
positive preventive impact on the juveniles. It is hoped that the
program will aid in reducing crime in the community and protect
society while working to redirect the life of the juvenile offender.
This program can not run without your help. We are in urgent
need of responsible adult volunteers to serve as on-site
supervisors for the juveniles. Volunteers may contribute any
number of hours per week Monday through Saturday. We are
also in need of actual work sites.
Please contact Bonnie Phillips at 637-9402 and express an
interest in the youth of our community.
FmHA To Begin Loan Reviews
For Possibie Debt Restructuring
Reviews will begin next week of Farmers Home Administration
(FmHA) loan accounts to see which farmers in Craven and
Pamlico Counties need and will qualify for a one-time set aside of
part of their loan, Martin L. Morgan, County Supervisor for
Craven and Pamlico Counties, said today.
FmHA has been authorized to set aside up to 25 percent—to a
maximum of $200,000—of the debt owed the agency for farmers
who are experiencing severe financial difficulty, if the set aside
will help achieve a positive cash flow for the borrower.
"We will begin scheduling appointments for our borrowers to
review their accounts, determine if they need special assistance
and see if we can make that assistance available,” Morgan said.
“Not every borrower will qualify for the set aside, but there
might be some other way to. help, such as consolidation or
rescheduling of existing loans. We will look at all alternatives."
Morgan said all accounts will be reviewed. There are some
exceptions, such as accounts in bankruptcy or foreclosure or
those determined able to graduate to other sources of credit.
