TT&T President To Speak At CCC Graduation The president and chief executive officer of Caroiina Telephone and Telegraph Company will deliver the commencement address at Craven Community College’s graduation June 2 at New Bern Senior High School. Wayne Peterson, president and CEO of the telephone company since 1980, was asked tp give the address, in light of CT&T’s large role in employment in Craven County. New Bern is home of a regional office of Carolina Telephone. Mr. Peterson is also a member of the State Board of Community Colleges. Born in Oklahoma, Mr. Peterson grew up in Texas, attending Tyler and Hender son County Junior Colleges as well as two senior institutions. In 1957, he was employed by Southwestern States Tele phone Company in Texas. He joined United Telecommuni-; cations, Inc. in 1968 and held several key management ''positions before coming to North Carolina and CT&T. Among his distinguished activities are directorships of North Carolina Citizens for Business and Industry, East Carolina University’s BB&T Center for Leadership Development and Center for Applied Technology, the N.C. -State University Foundation and N.C. Japan Center. He is a director and past president of the North Carolina Telephone Association, a member of the Governor’s Business Council for the Airts and Humanities and a trustee of Pitt County Memorial Hospital. The college’s graduation is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
