Pag»40 JWt»t Craven HIjghllghtt Saptembar 11,1986 Senior Citizens' ■iiii New Bern Civic Theater The New Bern Civic Theater is presenting Any Wednesday, a romantic comedy is two acts by Muriel Resnik. Show dates are September 18,19, and20at 8:00 p.m. with a Sunday matinee, September 21 at 2;00p.m. and the following weekend September 26 and 27. For ticket information and reservations please call the Saax Bradbury Playhouse on Pollock Street at 633-0567 or the Bank of the Arts on Middle Street at 638-2798. Quilt Show The Twin Rivers Piece- makers Guild will hold their 2nd quilt show on Saturday, October 18 form 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, October 19 from 1 p.'m. to 5 p.m. at Broad Street Christian Church in New Bern. The categories for the show are: Large Quilts, Small Quilts/Wall Hangings, Baby Quilts, Clothing and Accesso ries. There is a limit of 3 items per person. (No re-entries please) We will award Viewer's Choice ribbons for 1 st, 2nd and 3rd places. Registration forms are availbable by sending a self- addressed stamped envelope to P.O. Box 151, New Bern, N.C. 28560. Registration forms must be mailed in by Oct 4. All entries should be brought to the church on Friday, October 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and can be picked up starting at 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 19. This year we are planning various demonstrations during the two days of our show. The $1.00 donation includes entry to the show and a drawing for the Bleeding Heart quilt made by the members of the guild. Chrysanthemum Festival The Chrysanthemum Festival has something for everyone. October 17, 18, and 19 the Swiss Bear and Tryon Palace complex Will have a full program of festivities and entertainment In New Bern. Included are a champaign party, antiques, street dance, arts and crafts show and sale, ethnic food, live music and games. Tryon Palace will open the gardens to the public free. Seminar The North Carolina Paralega Association will hold its Practical Skills Mid-Year Seminar on September 27, 1986, at the Hilton in Wilmington, North Carolina. Music in the Park The Dan Dione's Notables and Orchestra free concert/ dance has been rescheduled for Sunday, September 21, from 6-8 pm. at the Farmers' Market Tryon Palace Drive, New Bern. The 15 member Orchestra will perform for your dancing and listening pleasure as the fifth Music in the Park sponsored by the Craven Arts Council and Gallery in cooperation with the New Bern and Craven County Recreation Departments. Morehead Welcomes Baldies "Wer'e proud of every hair we don't have" say the 18,000 members of the Bald Headed Men of America Club who will polish their bald pates and make headway for the 14th. International BALD IS BEAUTIFUL Convention held In Morehead City, North Carolina. September 12, 13, 14th. when Chief Bald Head Judge, Ms. Shirley Clark, will help judges select the "Most KIssable Bald Head in the World" while ABC Television tapes the event for Good Morning America, on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 13th. 3 to 5:30) in the Bald Room of .Mrs. Willis Restaurant, said BHMA Founder John T. Capps III. From Key West to Kalamazoo (Home of Upjohn's minoxidil) and Las Vegas to Sweden bald men converge annually for; sharing "the bald experience," participate in a Bald as A Golf Ball Tournament on a Morehead area golf course, tell thelatestbald jokes, celebrate a healthy self image, have a wholesome hair raising good time and flaunt what they don't have, Hairt - Morehead City's mayor. Bud Dixon says, "Skin is in and if you've got more head and less hair, join the many who will bs in Morehead City this weekend." Head to head competion keeps the judges busy determining the Sexiest Bald Head, Best All Round, Smoothies!, the Most Kissable Bald Head and Look-a-likes with contestants gleaming support from the usual standing room only audience. Twenty- eight year old, Steven Fowler from Atlanta, Georgia, last years. Most Kissable winner said, "The judges all commented how soft, warm and snuggly my head was, it was just like kissing a baby." Making it a family affair his dad, John Fowler from Greensboro, N.C. put on a heads up performance by taking the Trapper John Look-A-Like ribbon. Sixty per cent of all men can look forward to being bald or balding by the time they reach sixty years old," quipped Jack Moorhead of Bradenton, Fla. after he was declared a winner^ one of the contest when he made the trip to North Carolina to see ’ if BHMA was for real and located in Morehead City! Mark Adams of Tega Cay,S.C. is looking forward to his fourth convention and said, "The contest are fun for all, but the winner will not win by a hair, but it could be a close shave!"
