October-wildfoods, waterfowl The first two weekends in October aiong the Banks wiil feature wiidfoods and waterfowi. The October Marsh and Sea Fest, dubbed "wiidfoods weekend," wili be heid October 3 to 5 at the North Carolina Marine Resources Center on Roanoke Island. Participants will engage in full menu of activities, including a foraging expedition for unusual foods, before preparing the "wiid foods" banquet, a variety of culinary concoctions not found on the typical seafood platter. From October 10 to 12, the 18th Annual N.C. Waterfowl Weekend will attract exhibitors from near and far who will display decoys, paintings of wildlife, cross stitch and a variety of handmade articles. For further information on Fishing on the Outer Banks Fishing from surf and pier intensifies with the approach of fall. "After Labor Day," as the locals might put it, "the fishing gets serious." Cooling water temperatures in September bring the bigger fish closer to shore to hang around until Thanksgiving, the traditional peak of the autumn fishing season, or even thru December if the weather cooperates. In any case, the angler can cast with high expectations for a variety of species during fall months. New Exhibitl illustrating the children's views of the world during the Meszoic Era 60 million years ago. in addition, the Museum staff has gathered information and fossilized remains pertinent to and representative of this area. A lecture series will accompany the exhibit, and topics will focus on regional archeology, fossil-hunting and identification, the age of the dinosaurs, and the history of coastal formation. Lectures will be offered Sundays at 2 p.m. and admission is free. For further information, please contact the Museum. © UE STOPPERS ^ Dinosaurs & Fossils Sept.-Dee. 1986 This exhibit combines the work of students in our summer program on dinosaurs with artifacts and factual materials on the prehistory of the region. Students' works in the exhibit include three large model dinosaurs—average height, 7 feet,—a back-drop for each dinosaur, and numerous drawings and paintings J3irir63ays!
