Eagles Stroke
Hurricanes
45-20
A favorite saying now is "we
stroked them" and so the
Eagles did last Friday night on
Pamlico's home field.
The Eagles had a slow start
and great expectation began to
show as the Hurricanes jump
off to a 7 point lead in the first
period due to the speed of
Tyrone Smith and the sure foot
of Stuart Squires on the extra
point.
Stevie Harris receiving a
pass from Jesse Campbell
went over for the Eagles first
score but failing to get the
extra point the Eagles trailed
by one point.
This lead was soon shattered
as the Eagles push a 74 yard to
set up a one yard run by Nobles
to put the Eagles out front.
Pamlico came back with
Tyrone Smith picking off a
pass and running 75 yards for
the TD. The extra point was
blocked.
The score was 13-12 which
indicated Pamlico would,
probably take it to the dressing
room for the half but as Tyrone
Smith fumbled on the Pamlico
16, Derek Booker recovered
and four plays later Nobles
bulled in from the 1 to tidy up
the score and with the
conversion points by Camp
bell, the Eagles went to the
locker room leading 20-13.
The second half showed the
Eagles could hold and gain at
will, raising the score to 41-20.
The Eagles put an irhpres-
sive 357 yards on the ground in
the score book while Pamlico
gained only 78. Jesse
Campbell added 167 of those
yards to his record.
The Eagles meet the Patriots
of West Carteret in Cagle.
Stadium this Friday night. Kick
off time is 8 p.m. This is the first
conference game of the
season. Expectations are for
the Eagles winning their fifth
straight Friday night.
