i Obituary M. Floyd Ward M. Floyd Ward, 72, of Box 693 Chocowinity R-1, died last Wednesday at Beaufort County Hospital in Washing ton. The funeral was Saturday at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Vanceboro with Rev, T. H. Godwin and the Rev. James H. Norton officiating. Burial was in Celestial Memorial Gardens. He is survived by his widow, Maude Bright Ward; two sons, Richard Ward, of Chocowinity R- 1, Don Ward of Grand Prairie, Texas; five daughters, Jean Hutto of Grand Prairie, Texas, Norleen Brinson of Washington, Neva Niec of Memphis, Tenn., Nelda Newman of Hudson, N.H., and Linda Cochran of Greenville; one sister, Freddie Askins of Bridgeton; 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Ward was a natjve of Craven County. He lived near Chocowinity since 1954, a retired draw-bridge tender for Norfolk Southern Railroad. He was a member of the Vanceboro Pentecostal Hofineoc Church. Melvin S. Townsend Melvin S. Townsend, 48, died last Wednesday at his home. Funeral was last Friday at Wilkerson Funeral Chapel in Vanceboro with the Rev. Robert Worthington officiat ing. Burial was in Celestial Memorial Gardens. He is survived by his widow, Patsy SarnmOhs " Townsend; three sons, Tony Tqvynsend of Vanceboro,’ Mike Townsend and Mitch Townsend, both of the home;, pnp. brother, Roger Townsend, of Fort Worth, Texas; two sisters, Ann Turner and Faye ’ ^Miller, both of Suffolk, Va. his mother, Eunice Townsend of Suffolk; and one grandson. Harvest Day Celebration The Vanceboro Church of God invites everyone to attend their Harvest Day Celebration, Nov, 8th, lOiOOam. to 2:00pm.
