plinbed into our spexiial bus, stremlined'n everything. We all settled ourselves for the trip; Someone suggested that v/e sing, but no wo must save our voices with which we wore to charm the hearts of the Chapel Hill German Students. Everybody was talking and laughing in thrilled expect ation, and then—it started rain ing, not hard but just enough to dampen our enthusiam.'Finally, after what seemed’ages, we reached Graham ICemdrial, where we were to exxrcise our talents; After giving us our orders, Hiss Dodd' marshalled us up to the building, and, after curiously glancing'at all the males lounging about, we climbed the stairs to the concert room. We' deposited'bur little, songbooks, and left,’ with, o'rders to b0 back at four--sharp. 'Then the v/ires began to buzz." "Is '' this the Kappa S'ig. House? Well,, may I speak to Pete Jones? Thanks. Oh--Pete, this is Susie. Ye'ah-it's mo. I'm over with the German Club, Why—yes, v\re can have'dates, and go out to supper,, tooi Hint! Hint: W'eil- gee, thanks.'. I’ll moot you in Graham Memorial at quarter of five. O.K. Thanks so much. Bye. V/lth everybody fixed u;p T/.ith dates, v/e walked around tue campus--in the rain—until ten of four. ’ ' Then back to Graham Memorial fco find the lounge filled with' boys—real ones, too! After much humming and hawing, and pushing of chairs, and coughing, we began to sing--maybe a little off-key, but the effect was good anyway. In the audience'the boys'were reading funny papors. smoking, talking, or just looking bored. . .. • At lust the meeting was over. Our datos came up to criticize and poke fun, and. then v/e left. Y/e walked for hours in the rain with drooping hair and spotted Easter duds, but did 'care?- Ho! Then tne; food--it was grand,, especially at the Carolina Inn. But all too soon it vras seven o’clock, and back to the bus we must go 1 After the goodbyes were said, and the roll called, wo left Chapel Hill. And so back to Saint Mary’s. Pagent; On April 6th the Young People’s Service League presented a pageant for the Diocese of North Carolina on the missionary v/ork of the Church. After the pageant the women v/ere entertained in the parlor at- one of Mrs. Cruikshank’s delightful teas. Mikado: ... \ "Isn’t it grand that we can take our dates?" "They say that Boots is wonderful in her part." "I can’t wait to see the wigs; I hear that they are screams," Such were the remarks heard on Saturday night jusl^ before the "Mikado" was presented by the Glee Club. V/e assembled in the audi torium, craned our necks to see who was lucky enough to have dates, and soon Mr. Jones, resplendent in his tux, came, out, and motioned to thO' accompanists. The curtain went back; the audience gasped. We didn’t know a person on the stage. After much deliberation v/e rec ognized the once familiar faces of the members of the Glee Club, now disguised by queer eyebrows and wigs V7e laughed from the opening chorus-to the finale. All around us visitors v/ere saying, ’",7ho in the world is playing Pooh-Bah?" "Who is the Lord High Executioner?" "Aren’t they ridiculous?" "Dosen’t Nanki-Pooh sing v/ell?" V7e told them the answers, and heartily agreed with them. Never had we beed so \voll entertained. We still chuckle v/hen v/e think-of Pooh-Bah with his sneer and fan, and tlie Executioner stumbling around with the butcher- knife in his hand, while he made love to Katisha. The Glee Club outdid itself to give a fine per formance. (Nev/ Editor^s note; V7e noticed the Maid 3’-ou mentioned in the last issue and we think that she did well in spite of her antics.) P.S. V/hom was Connie Thigpen with? P.S. Again-V7herc was Miss Dodd from 5:00 to 7:00? Lecture: Thursday morning Miss Harris presented the first of a series of lectures on the history of art. These.lectures are planned to sketch briefly the history-of art through the ages, Egyptian, Roman, Greek, Pre-Christian, and Gothic Art were explained v.lth slides. Symphony: Tramp, Tramp, Tramp, the Saint Mary’s girls are marching. -"Just another Civic Music Concert," we groaned. "Hope they’ve cushioned the seats." Y/eren’t we surprised v/hen v/3 enjoyed it? Of course the Andante v/as iipressive, but give us a Rhumba
