The Senior Class day will be in the auditorium in the afternoon. The documents of the class will be written by the following girls: Poem, Logan Vaught; Last Will and Testament, Rose Potter and Logan Vaught; History, Corneille Rylander and Jane Gower; Pro phecy, Convere Jones and Helen Eppes. The Sophomore Class day will be in the morning. Their docu ments will be written by the fol lowing members of the Sopho more Class; Poem, Betty Bowles; Last Will and Testament, Lucile Best and Berta Allen Russ; Pro phecy, Caroline Camp and Ruth Clark. The day students entertained the student body with a hilarious “Dr. Anthony” program in Saint Mary’s auditorium- Tuesday, April 13. Directed by day student presi dent Betty Lokey, this i^rogram was the first the day students have presented in a number of years. As Dr. Anthony, Martha Up- cliurcli solved the various prob lems of Jean West, Jane Cleii- denin, Armeeia Eure, Barbara Sibley, and Barbara Crawford. Producing the commercial side of the program were Joan Stieber as the announcer, N^ancy Bobbit as the painter, and Salh^ Bizzell, Vii-- ginia Page, Mary Eugenia Garri son, and Margaret Morris as the advei’tising (juartet. The students who helped and directed back stage were Betty Lokey, chairman, and Edith Winslow, Barbara Stoughton, and Marguerite Burton. Ralph Osthoff, master student in piano at Converse College and teach er at Saint Mary’s, will present a recital this evening, at 8 :30 in Saint Mary’s Auditorium. Mr. Osthoff, who holds a Bachelor of Music degree, is a pupil of Dean Edwin Gerschefski. He has pre sented two recitals at Converse in the past two weeks as a candidate for a Master of Music degree. The program tonight will be as follows: Ten Court Members Will At tend Queen, Represent Dawn May Day at Saint Mary’s with Lila Spilman, Statesville, as queen will be May 1 at 3 :30 in the grove on the east side of the auditorium. Thanks To Alumnae' A Beautified Room Students at Saint Mary’s next year probably will have to sat in their very best bibs and tuckers to keep up with the “new dress” of the dining room, for the redecoration of the din ing room,'thanks to the alum nae, may begin this summer! At the recent alumnae coun cil meeting at Saint Mary’s, April 9, the group voted unani mously to designate $3,000 of the alumnae funds for the project of the year. Since that meeting an additional $409.05 from chapters and individual contributions has been col lected. Also the class of ’44 has de cided to give its fund of $500 in bonds to further the project, and other classes are consider ing giving their funds. The council aims to reach $1,000 in additional collections by the general meeting in June. Stu dents may contribute in the alumnae office. Belles Has Pin-Up Contest For Beaux S. C.; Nellie Truslow, Cbestertown, Md.; Ami Arnoiiette, Lynchburg, Va.; Betty Bowles, Statesville; Minerva Hobart, Pampa, Texas; Betsy Evans, Enfield; and Frances Isbell, Greenville, S. C. The theme for this year’s celebra tion is the poem, 7%e Day Will Bring Some Lovely Thing, by Grace Noll Crowell. Lila Spilman will represent Day, and her ten court at tendants will signify dawn. The attendants are Betty Lokey, Armeeia Eure, Raleigh; Sylvia Newson, Charlotte; Gene Hines, Greenwood, Martha Upchurch, dance soloist, will represent the person “I,” and Susan Jenkins will read the poem. The first grouj) dance is Breath of Bine. Dancers in this are Elizabeth Burns, Jacqueline Burke, Kathryn ITavnaer, Julia Perry, Preston Wes- coat, Nancy Holland, Barbara Stoughton, and Peggy Swinson. -J Poem Lit With Golden Flame will be the second group dance. Sarah Lou Davis, Mary Anne Mont- fort, Ann Johnson, Jerry Ann (juinn, and Jacqueline Murray will dance in it. The third dance is Flying Colors of the Wind with dancers Josephine Cooper (soloist), Nancy Hamel, Nancy Holt, Blair Bowers, Joan Tate, Rachel Kearney, Beth Toy, Jo Ann Darden, Lucile Best. Hamel. Attention, all you belles who have a beau! The BELLES is sponsoring a “pin-up” contest, and all of you are urged to enter the pictures of all those handsome males who have been spotted around the campus. Any kind of picture will do—snapshot or pho tograph—big, medium, or small. . . . And listen to this! Your men will be judged by Jimmy Capps, announcer for WPTF’s “My Best To You,” and two girls from Peace and Meredith. The pictures will be displayed in an “art gallery” for a week after which the judges will decide who’s to be “the boy beautiful.” Hurry now! There’s )io time to waste! The Order of the Circle is in charge of stage sets. Mrs. George Corby is the accompanist for the dances, Barbara Pope will play the gongs, and Mrs. Enierson Atkinson will accompany on the violin. Music to be used for the program is by the following composers: Rom berg, Fuleihin, Horst, Debussy, Le vitsky, and Hatcher. The entire program is under the direction of Mrs. William C. Guess.
