The Belles of Saint Mary’s February 18, l9iS 39 Students Make Honor Rnli For Quarter; 40 Make Honorable Mention Holt Presents View Of Life Of Seniors SMS Alumnae Bridge Party Seventy-lime students at Saint Idary’s made a B average or above for the second quarter. Thirty-nine •of these made honor roll, and forty .made honorable mention. Information Is for Benefit of Next Year’s Residents of Holt Following is a list of students who have made the honor roll for the second quarter. To meet this re quirement a student must be carry ing a full program of studies, she must make an average of B-j- or better on her credit courses with no grade lower than C— on any course, and must have a satisfactory record in deportment and punctuality. Saint Mary’s, Peace, and Mere dith participated in a Basketball Play Day which took place on Sat urday afternoon, February 12, at two o’clock in Saint Mary’s gymnasium. The Saint Mary’s letter club spon sored the event. The Meredith A team were the top scorers. Girls who played forward for Saint Mary’s were as follows : Sarah Ann Proctor, Ann Shuford, Evelyn Oettinger, Adele Hicks, and Betsy Jones. Lou Ann Watkins, Mary Giles Stewart, Frances Drmie, Betty Bowles, Pepper Neal, Alice Hicks, and Billie Schulken were guards. Referee for the game was Miss Phyllis Cunningham of Meredith, and Miss Anna Graham was umpire. Scorekeepers were Jeanne Brown and Mary McNaughton, while Fran ces Elder was timekeeper. Miss Joycp Fowler is the Peace physical education instructor. Refreshments were served in the Hut immediately after the tourna ment. Committee chairmen were as follows: reception, Frances Drane; games, Jeanne Brown; refreshments, Mary Giles Stewart; and recrea tional swimming, Sarah Ann Proc- .Holt Hall gave a preview of life in Holt in assembly, on Tuesday, Feb ruary 15. The purpose of the pro gram was to give the rising seniors “a clue” about their life next year. Margie Story was narrator and there were four main scenes: going to and from breakfast, before and after lunch, before and after din ner, and 11 o’clock. In the first scene after Katy has gotten everybody on 1st HoU up. Minor Jordan, Nolle Clark, Sis Cobh, and Betsy Jones ran through madly dressing for breakfast. During the morning the famous “bridgule queen and her court (McNaught. Newt, Katy) were seen seated in Holt parlor surrounded by Pinner, Betty Brown Lewis, Ruth Saunders, and Mary Giles Stewart, who were fussing about all the work they .just couldn’t find time to do. While Betsy Harris went through her repe'toire on the Steinway, Wills and Nannie walked through comparing meals and waistlines. From 9 :30 to 11:00 Ambrose had her class and told a group of shocked seniors that Mr. Moore had given them eight Mother Goose Rhymes to learn ! Rixey and Blanche nearly passed out from the shock, but Mc- Naught revived in time to dash for her phone call. Just after this Lelia DuPre and B. A. Yowell started the race for the tubs. ‘ Dune” and Betsy Har ris spotted the “little man”.
