Lucille Best, Eunice Bizzell, Betty Bowles, Kay Boyette, Helen Brundage, Binny Chew, Cynthia Davis, Suzanne Dawson, Nancy Dixon, Gloria Farnell, Aurelia Pulton, Jo Gaither, Mary Prances Gilbert, Luke Hill, Rosalie Huske, Carolyn Kiser, Joanne Liles, ]\Iartha Nash, Sylvia Newson, Sara Ann Proctor, Betty Ray, Libba Roe, Mary Anne Rose, Mary Scarboro, Mary Smith, Patty Starr, Joan Stieber, Jean Stock- ton, Prankie Strosnider, Laura Weaver, Barbara Wooten, Helen Young are at the University of Nortli Carolina. Heilig Harnej^ is planning to enter second quarter. C. Lytle Batchelor, Anne Dunn, and Dot Pugh are at E.C.T.C. Joanne Bell, Kitty Paucette, Phyllis Kelly, and Monie Rowland are at Salem while Jean English and Ginin" Ann Landis are at Queens. Prances Corleto and Jane Lloyd ai'e at Mary Washing ton. Ellen Moore is at the Uni versity of South Carolina which Lynn Boykin plans to enter second semester. Betty Battle, Nancy Bobbitt, Eliza Chipley and Patsy Raj" are at the University of Georgia, lletty Bevan is at Mount Vernon. Mary IMarshall Ragland, Annie Robert son, Lib Suiter and Jean Wrenek are at Randol])h-Macon. Julia Ann Royster is at Longwood Col lege; Lynne Banks is at Atlantic Christian; Berta Allen Russ is at Sweet Briar; and Lucy Ann Bod- die is at R.P.l. There are two sets of sisters at Saint Mary’s this year, the Stew arts, Margaret and Anne, from New York City, and the Pages, Jean and “Honejq” from El Paso, Texas. Margaret and Jean are seniors, Anne is a junior, and “Honey” is a sophomore. Anne Dunn, of Greenville, vis ited Miss M. D. Jones and thanked her for not letting her do what she wanted to do one night. It seems that Anne, by complying Avith Miss Jones’ wishes, met the boy she is uoav engaged to. Anne is now studying at Eastern Caro lina Teachers’ College. Sarah Anne Pi'octor and Gloria Parnell Ausited their old friends here at Saint Mary’s recently. They seem to be enjoying Caro lina. The faculty house has practi cally ceased to be a faculty house this year; four ucav girls have al most turned it into a dormitory. Lncille Overton, of NeAvport NeAvs, Virginia, and Barbara Dick son, of Charlotte, are roommates. Lucille is a sophomore and Bar bara is a fi-eshman. Betty Bidling- ton, of Spartanburg, South Caro lina, also calls the faculty house her home. Betty is a sophomore. Audry Campbell, of Columbia, South Carolina, is temporarily liv ing there until her parents, avIio haA’e recently moved to Raleigh, can tind a home. Audry is a junior. Miss Cate Announces NewGlee Club Members Ann Badger Smith, Betty Shields and Elaine Shumaker are still in Raleigh at State, Meredith and Peace respectively. Cecile Bickett is at Hollins. Jacquelyn Clarkson is at the University of Tennessee. Katie Clifton is at Whittier College. Millie Cobb is in Noav York at Pinch Junior College, Betty BroAvn LcAvis and Ann McKenzie are at Katherine Gibbs. Brookie Craft is at the University of Ken tucky. Susie Dell and Jean Lutz are going to Lenoir-Rhyne and Nancy Derrickson to G.C. Suzie Friday is at the College of Charleston. Sarah Holcomb is at Wake Forest, Kathryn Holmes at George Washington University and Ellen McCoy is at Canterbury College. Liz Randolph is at Miami University, Monty Redd at AVil- liam and Mary, and June Reuning at Sullins. First East Wing Wins Prize Latest Styles From Paris Win Applause: Ministrels Tie Second Presidents Explain Clubs To New Girls Evelyn Oettiiiger, assembly chair man, opened the year’s first assem bly program in the auditorium Sep tember 26. The major purposes of the meeting were to introduce the Amrious school clubs to the iieAV girls and to acquaint everyone Avdth the seating arrangement. After everyone was settled in her correct place, Louise Milliken, presi dent of the Order of the Circle, opened the program by describing the Circle as an organization Avhicli invohms the princii)les of service, felloAvship, citizenship, and scholar ship. Membership in this organiza tion is based upon individual merit. Clairene Harris spoke of the aims of the Beacon, the honorary organi zation for higli school girls, and the qualifications necessary for member ship. Alice Hicks, president of the Let ter Club, explained the main pur poses of the athletic program and urged all girls to take an actKe part in the activities. Sigma- Pi Alpha, the national modern language society, introduced by its president, Katherine Armis- tead, is also an honorary organiza tion Avhicli places scholarship at the head of its requirements. Dramatic Club Picks Moose As President Miss Geraldine Cate, Glee Club director, has announced the iieAv members of the Glee Club for the coming year. Each girl received a private audition and careful con sideration before being accepted into the Glee Club. The members chosen are Adah Bass, Jane Berryhill, Claire Boone, Louise Brand, Anne Bransford, Martha Bridger, Gloria Clemons, Kitty Fisher, Cannon Gardiner, Jean GloA^er, Betty Jo Hansen, Betsy Harris, Alice Hicks, Ruth Hines, and Letitia House. Rebecca Moose, of Boone, Avill serve the club as president. Becky has been at Saint Mary’s for the jiast four yeai-s. She is a member of the Canterbury Club, a server, and a Mil. Becky received her speech certificate last year and has been active in the Dramatic Club plays during her four years at Saint Mary’s. Becky is Hall Councilor for East Third Smedes. Katherine Armistead, of Kinston, has been chosen vice-president of the club. Kit, a senior, is a second year girl at Saint Mary’s. She is president of the Sigma Pi Alpha and a member of the Glee Club, Canterbury Club, and Hall Coun cil. Kit is a Mu and has also taken part in previous plays. Juliette Fulghum, of Raleigh, is the neAV Dramatic Club secretary. Juliette has been active in the club during her tAvo years at Saint Ma ry’s. She is a Mu cheerleader aiid a member of the Stage Coach ad- A'ertising staff. Betty Ruth MacNair, of Wilson, was elected publicity chairman for the club. “Mac” is a neAV girl and is taking the business course.
