Elect Jones
Louise Jones, a junior, was elected
liresident of the day Students on
IMarch 7. This is Louise’s first year
at St. Mary’s. Louise is a member
of the Honor Council and Sigma Pi
Alpha. She is a ISIu.
The duties of the president of the
Day Students are many and varied.
They include such things as
presiding over that group and
representing them at meetings of the
Student Government officers. Con
gratulations go to Louise on her
new honor.

Rising Seniors
Choose Rountree
Ann Rountree was elected presi
dent of the Class of ’58, on Tuesday,
March 12. She is from Greensboro,
and this is her first year at St.
Alary’s.
Ann is a m e m b e r of the
Dramatics Club, the legislative
body, and is a Mu. In high school
Ann was the accompanist for the
orchestra and held classroom offices.
She was also a member of the
Torchlight, the National Honor
Society.
The"entire school joins the Junior
Class in congratulating Ann on
becoming president of that group.

Shirley Smith and Ann Shejiherd
were elected Senior Honor Council
Representatives on T h u r s d a y,
Alarch 14. Shirley will serve as
Secretary of Student Government
for 1957-58.
Shirley, from Greensboro, came
to St. Mary’s this year. She is a

Elect Robinson
Dickie Robinson w a s elected
vice-president of the Student
Government for ’57-’58 on Wednes
day, Alarch 6. She is from Little
ton.
Dickie has been at St. Alary’s for
two years. Last year she was a
member of the Beacon, the A'lay
Court, and a Dance Alarshal. This
year she is an Honor Council rep
resentative, a member of the YDC
and the AAVCA, news editor for The
Belles, and a member of the Alav
Court.
SAIJC students recognize their
new “Veep” as a born leader. Her
outstanding good looks, poise, and
ability combine to make Dickie
well-liked and respected by all.

The marshals were elected on
Wednesday, Alarch 20. They are:
Annie Gray Calhoun, chief; Jane
Bellamy; Sadie Carol Etheridge;
Lou Johnson; Ease Pennington;
and Jenny Whitehurst.
Annie Gray is a member of the
Dramatics Club, Granddaughters’
Club, A’DC, and Stagecoach busi
ness staff. She is a Mu. Jane is a
member of the Granddaughters’
Club, the Dramatics Club, and the
Stagecoach business staff.
Jenny Whitehurst belongs to the
Dramatics Club, The Bettes staff,
the A^DC, the Letter Club, and
Orchesis. Sadie Carol is a member
of the A^DC and a Sigma. She was
an active member of the basketball
team.
Lou and Ease both room on 1st
West Rock. Lou was in the recent
play, and Ease hails from Virginia.
Both are on The Belles staff and
belong to the YDC.
Spainhour Gives
Certificate Recital
Alary Spainhour, senior organ
pupil, gave her certificate organ
recital on Sunday, Alarch 17, at 5:00
P.AI. Alary is from Lenior.
Her program consisted of Choral-
Preludes by J. S. Bach, selections
from Oj)us Sacrum (In Nativitate
Domini) by Alaleingrau, and three
selections from A Cycle of Short
Pieces (Opus 154) by Karg-Elert..
Alary is a student of Air. Russell
Broughton and her recital was the
result of three years instruction at
St. Mary’s. She is a member of the
choir and vice-counselor on 2nd
West Rock. Congratulations to
Alary for her excellent recital.
Chairman of Hall
Council Is Allen
Jessie Allen, from Greensboro,
was elected Chairman of Hall
Council on Wednesday, Alarch 6.
.lessie has attended St. Alary’s for
three years.
Jessie has been very active in
extra-curricular activities. She was
a member of the Beacon during her
freshman year. She was also in the
5^ DC and Dramatics Club. During
her sophomore year, Jessie was on
The Belles and Stagecoach staffs
and served her class as president.
This year , Jessie has added the
Altar Guild and duties of a Sigma
cheerleader to her list of extra-cur
ricular activities.
Congratulations to a wonderful
girl who will indeed live up to the
expectations of those who elected
her to this office.
