BELLES OF ST. MARY’S March 22, 1957 Belles Recognizes Faithful Service Of Chapel Helpers ^ A stranger visiting our chapel for the first time would probably be sur prised to find that girls have taken over the duties usually carried out by boys. These girls serve as acolytes, servers, and crucifiers. They are seniors appointed by Air. Hughes. Eric Huske, Dottie Pierson, and Helen Corbett are the acolytes. Their duties include lighting the candles before every service. Ann Powell and Catherine Dent serve at the Holy Communion services. One server is present at the early service held every Sunday morning. They also take turns serving at the eleven o’clock services. Trisha Huske and DeeDee DeVere are the crucifiers. Carrying the cross, they lead the choir into the chapel. Of course, the duties carried out by these girls are minor incidents in the Spiritual life which centers around the Chapel, but these eight feel that it’s an honor to serve in such a way. The Belles feels that these eight girls should be given the recognition which they deserve for giving their time toward adding to the religious inspiration of others. Beckoning Belles The Aumnae Council Is Planning A Luncheon For Senior Class Members The Alumnae Council extends an invitation to the members of the Senior Class to a luncheon on Saturday, April 6, at the Reinlyn. This is the first time that such a luncheon has been held. The Alumnae Council is having the luncheon because they want to do something for the seniors and at the same time to enlighten the seniors as to the functions of the Alumnae Association. Airs. James Alurray Webb, president of the Alumnae Association, will make a short talk. The Alumnae includes any student who has attended St. Alary’s. The seniors will become Alumnae upon their graduation in June. It is hoped that they will become active members then. The Alumnae office will gladly provide any information concerning chapter locations and functions of this group. Being an active member of the Alumnae Association is one way to always remain close to the life at St. Alary’s. Mary Ann Keith messed up the works the other day when she walked off with the Little Store book. Did she get you shook, “Slats”? * * * Congrats to the juniors on win ning the song contest. Some people still love sentiment. » * » The weather is really something around here. One minute you can sleep under a sheet, and then the next minute there’s snow falling. I’m getting confused, but the flowers, the birds, and the St. Alary’s furnace are also confused. * * * Dragon couldn’t bring herself to give up campus slips for Lent. I don’t blame her if giving them gives her pleasure. * * * Aliss S. E. Jones gave up ciga rettes and is now sporting a pipe, n’est-ce pas, Dickie?). Some people are really clever when it comes to wiggling around things. * * * The “Follies” were the greatest ever, and I didn’t forget to pull the curtain, Kim. They simply weren’t ready on stage. * » » The star of “Peg O’ Aly Heart” belongs to Betsy Lipford. His name is Ricky, and he eats Dash. * * * Congratulations to Riggers and Stuart. \A hat is 2nd Smedes coming to? * * * S])eaking of the play, did you notice the costumes? So well suited to the personalities of the actors (?) and actresses. * 4f * Alichael will be “Boss girl” of this sheet next year. AVell, I, for one, intend to back her up. That is, if she’ll let me. * * * Best of luck to Beth Alorrison on the Muse and to Sally Barnes on the Stagecoach. Both will need everyone’s sui)i)ort. * * * Frances Pearson was campused again . . . accumulation of points. Poor Francois. * * * It seems we have a new girl in school.
