Senior class day exer cises 3.30 P.M. Glee Club Program Publications Editors Elected Luanne Hobbs, Memrle Mosier, and Nancy Morris were elected on April 9 to edit the 1958-59 publi cations. Luanne, editor-in-chief of the Stagecoach, hails from Rocky Mount. This year she has been active in the dramatics club with the lead in “The Heiress,” on the Stagecoach business staff, a member of the Altar Guild and Cantebury Club, on the Sigma soccer team, and in the May Day Spanish Dance. Memrie, editor-in-chief of the Muse, is a native of Greenville. This year she has been a member of the Granddaughter’s Club, Orchesis, the Muse staff, the Stagecoach creative writing staff, and the Sigmas. Nancy, editor-in-chief of the Belles, comes from Salisbury. This year she has been a junior repre sentative to the Legislative Body, a member of the Belles feature and headlines staffs, the Stagecoach creative writing staff, the Altar Guild, the YWCA, and on the mu volleyball and basketball teams. Octavia comes from Rockingham, N. C. At St. Mary’s she is a Sigma and a member of the choir, Belles Staff, Stage Coach Staff, Grand daughters Club, and Orchesis. Octa via was chosen to be in the May Court. Rett Weston hails from Columbia, S. C. She is on the Belles and Stage Coach Staff, Treasurer of the Junior Class and a Sigma. Jeannet Gillam lives in Burling ton, N. C. She is a Sigma and on the Stage Coach Staff. Ann Jefferson is from Cairo, Geor gia. Her activities at St. Mary’s in clude the Glee Club, choir. Belles Staff, Y.D.C. and the May Court. Ann is a Mu. Bev DuBose comes from Colum bia, S. C. She is a member of the Altar Guild, Granddaughters Club, Stage Coach Staff, and Secretary of the Junior Class. Bev is a Sigma and will be in the May Court this year. June 1, Sunday, 7:30 A.M. Helen Jones Assists Newton Helen Bell Jones assisted Brooks Newton in her certificate' recital Tuesday, April 15, 1958, at 8:30 p.m. in St. Mary’s Auditorium. Miss Jones played Sonata in P sharp minor. Opus 26, No. 2 by dementi, Sumare from Saudades do Brazil by Milhaud, Prelude, No. 2 by Frank Martin, Three Chinese Bagatelles by Tscherepnine, Intermezzo in 3 major, op. 116, No. 6 by Brahms, and Soaring by Schumann. Srs. Choose Honor Council Members On April 11, Sally Blackmon and Mary Dale were elected to serve as senior representatives to the 1958-59 honor council. One of these two girls will be chosen by the honoi council to serve as secretary of the Student Government. Sally, a Columbia, South Caro lina girl has served on the honor council this year. She has also been in the choir, glee club, glee club ensemble, Y.D.C., Y.W.C.A., on the Stage coach editorial staff, on the Muse staff, and a member of the Altar Guild and Mu volleyball team. Mary, who hails from Charlotte, has been a member of Orchesis and is a choreographer for the Dutch Dance in May Day. She is a Sigma. Ji“s. Give Program The Junior class presented their assembly program entitled “Is There Anybody Here for Love?” Thursday morning, April 17, 1958. All members of the class partici pated in song and dance routines which were as follows: “Anybody Here for Love” by 1st Holt directed by Octavia Phillips; “Pm Not at All in Love by 2nd Holt directed by Patricia Litchfield; “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of My Hair” by 2nd Smedes directed by Catherine Potter; “This Can’t be Love” by 3rd Smedes directed by Cmda Henderson; “There’s a Small Hotel by 3rd Holt” directed by Penny Dunn; “Wonderful Guy” by West Rock directed by Memrie Mosier, Dorothy Ewing, and Har riett McDaniel. Sarah Ellen White, Joan Williams, and Sally Bruce presented the theme. The entire program was directed by Jane Cope land. May Day To Be Saturday On Saturday, May 3, 1958, May Day will be presented to all visitors and students on front campus of Saint Mary’s. First the May Court will enter the procession to await the entrance of the Maid of Honor Ease Penning ton and then of the Queen Jane Bellamy. Next the May Court will engage in the well known traditional May Pole dance. They then retire to their places behind the Queen and view the performance of “Around the World With Eloise” presented by Orchesis. Eloise, Nancy Page Hopkins, en ters with her nurse, Jenny White hurst to pack her bag for her tour around the world. Chee Davis and Eleanor Bulluck represent the American Jazz dance. Between each country’s dance Eloise and her nurse appear to announce the change of country. Next Joy Little leads the vivid Spanish dance with the sound of castanets. The Hollanders’ dance follows with its leader Mary Dale. The exotic Oriental dance succeeds with Chee Davis leading. Next the Russian dance comes brisk and live ly, Sybil Mathis and Michael Gard ner leading. Following is the grace ful Roman dance, Jo Burgwyn leading and doing a solo. Anna Thompson leads next the sensuous Hawaiian dance. Next Dot Overbeck leads a group in the Scottish high land Fling. Frances Swan Lake is portrayed by Eleanor Bullock’s group. Orchesis then pays tribute to our Queen Jane Bellamy in the finale, which is followed by the reces sional.
