Masseles Presents Delightful Concert William Masseles presented a piano recital in St. Mary’s Audi torium on Wednesday, April 23, 1958, at 8:30 P.M. Mr. Masselos played two Polo naises by William Friedman Bach; Kreisleriana, Opus 16 by Schumann; and accompanied by Miss Mary Ruth Haig, Concerto in F Minor by Chopin, which is a concerto for two pianos. Mr. Masselos played three encores which were D Minor Prelude by Chopin, Reflections in the Water by Debussy, and a modern selection by Harhaness. Circle Walks, Beacon Taps Jeanette Cross, President of the Student Government Association, and Elise Brice, chairman of Hall Council, were inducted into the Circle Monday, April 28. The other members of the Circle are Dickie Robinson, Caroline Cobb, Betsy Lip ford, Michael Gardner, Shirley Smith, Jessie Allen, Jane Brady, Chee Davis, Ann Shepherd, Betty Covington, Kit Tiedeman, Millie Fary, Ann Roundtree, Louise Jones, and Linda Lunsford. On Tuesday April 29, the Beacon tapped five sophomores and one freshman into their honor club. Sophomores Jo Burgwyn, Helen Bell Jones, Winnie Lightfoot, Lou Pittman, and Bonnie Stone, and Freshman Martha Martin were tap ped. Other members are: Edith Alston, Julia Ann Hunt, Allison Moore, Florence Nash, Linda Richert, Carol Spaulding, Page Temple, Muffy Walke, and Katesy Webb. Get Annual May 30 The Stagecoach, the Saint Mary’s annual, will come out May 31, 1958. The annual is the traditional climax of Class Day. Of course, its format is the secret held by Sally Barnes, editor. Everyone anticipates the un folding of the secret when they go to the Little Store to receive their annuals. Georgia Cobb and Nan Bailey were recently elected Secretary of Hall Council and Assembly Chair man, respectively. Georgia, who hails from Golds- ^ member of the Y.D.C., choir. Glee Club, Stagecoach and Belles Staffs, Granddaughter’s Club and Doctor’s Daughter’s Club. She is a MU cheerleader. Nan, a third year girl from Wen dell, N. C., is a Mu cheerleader, and a member of the Y.D.C., YWCA and Altar Guild. Dana Borden from Goldsboro, N. C. was elected editor of the Handbook for 1958-59 on Aprii 30. Dana has been at St. Mary’s for three years. She is a member of the choir. Altar Guild, Y.W.C.A., Belles and Stage Coach staffs, and YRC. She is a junior class representative to the Legislative Body, a Glee Club hbrarian, and vice-president of Y.D.C. Dana is a member of the Letter Club and was manager of the Mu soccer team and a member of the all-star soccer and volleyball teams. The Handbook editor must attend all meetings of the Legislative Body and insert new rules into the Hand book. MacMillan Selected Sara MacMillan from Winston- Salem has been appointed Chair man of the Senior Little Store Com mittee for 1958-59. This year Sara has been a dance marshal, a member of the Stage coach typing staff, and a Sigma. Other members of the Little Store Committee are Betsy Brodie, Jane Smith, Lee Newby, Ann Wright Harriet Smithdeal, Sally Marcotte Becky Roberson, Dorothy Ewing and Patricia Litchfield. Stafe College Glee Club Enferfains The North Carolina State College Men s Glee Club performed for St Mary’s students on May 1, 1958, at 10.30 a.m. in the school auditorium. The program included Hail, Bright Abode by Richard Wagner; La Pastorella by Franz Shubert’ Land Sight by Edward Grieg; Deep in My Heart by Sigmund Romberg- Romany Life by Victor Herbert in which Sue Sandlin was Soloist; Stouthearted Men by Sigmund Rom- berg; V^it for the Wagon by Robert Shaw; Brother Will, Brother John by John Sacco; Set Down Servant Shaw; Ezekiel Saw De Wheel by Noble Cain.
