Nearing Finals
Some of the non-athletes as well
as Letter Club members have been
participating in a Bridge Tourna
ment between the Sigma’s and the
Mu’s. The results have been:
The winner of McMillan-DnBose
and Edens-McLeod match will play
Howard and IVIayer for the Sigma
Championship. These girls will then
play the Mu winners of the Daven
port-Fisher and Borden-Copeland
match for the Tournament winner.
On Wednesday night, January '7,
the Civic Music Association pre
sented The National Ballet of
Canada. The presentation was in
three parts, Les Sylphides, Ballad,
and Coppelia. The story of the bal
let was about the lord of a manor
who had declared a festival in cele
bration of a new bell he had given
to a town. That day also marked
the betrothal of the lovers, Swan-
hilda and Franty. The gaity of the
scene was interrupted by a toy-
maker who demanded and receiv
ed restitution for the havoc played
by Swanhilda in his workshop. A
devertissement ensues depicting the
hours of dawn, prayer, and work,
and the townsfolk danced a galop
to bring the joyous festivities to a
close.
The stars of the ballet were Celia
Franca, David Adams, and- Lois
Smith.
SIGMA-MU
BASKETBALL
Sigma-Mu basketball teams have
been organized to compete against
each other during the winter sea
son. The AIu representatives who
are seeing active play are: Carol
Hardy, I^ucy Milward, Susan
Purdie, Betty Wright, Blair Maddi-
son, and Frances LaXIottc. For the
Sigma’s are; Nancy Sjostrom, Kate
A^oung, Alartha Winstead, Sara
Griffin, Anne Edens, Hannah Bell,
Betsy lApford and G. Hofler.
In a game on Wednesday, Janu
ary 14, the XIu’s won by the score
of 32-29.
