Marilyn, a .junior and an old girl, is a member of the Y'oung Republican’s Club and is a typist for the BELLES Statf. She has also been elected a counselor and president of the Mu’s for next year. This summer Marilyn plans to attend summer school at the LTniversity of Hawaii. Also at a recent meeting of the rising senior class, Eleanor StoM"e was elected Secretary of the Leg islative Body. Eleanor is a new girl from Charlotte, North Caro lina. She is a member of the Y'oung Democrat’s Club on the Alter Guild, and serves as a junior representative to the Legislature Body this year. Eleanor has also been appointed as a counselor for next year. NO MORE REQUIRED BREAKFAST! . . . And In Leaving Legislative Body Makes Changes This year the Legislative Body considered fourteen petitions. The petition to allow sophomores to single date after first quarter was the only one which passed. Num erous Constitution changes were made. The two most important changes concerned the Honor Council membership and the Dis ciplinary Committee. The Con stitution now states that the Com- merical Class will no longer have a representative on the Honor Council but ■will join the junior class in voting for three Honor Council representatives. The Dis ciplinary Committee was divided into two bodies: the Disciplinary Committee, Avhich issues penalties in cases referred to it by the Hon or Council and deals with serious violations of student regulations and of rules of personal conduct; and the Minor Offense Committee, Avhich issues penalties for offenses which are not under the jurisdic tion of the Disciplinary Commit tee and deals ivitli library offenses. This division was made in order to strengthen the Disciplinary Committee so that it may deal with cases referred to it by the Honor Council. In order for a petition to be passed, it must first be written on a special form, signed by three members of the student body, and given to the Secretary of the Leg islative Body. The Petitions Com mittee then considers it and either rejects it or recommends it to the Legislative Body Avhich A-otes on it. If the Legislative Body A'otes for the petition, the Chairman and the Dean of Students present the petition to the President of the College. If the petition gains his approA'al, it goes into effect at the end of tAvo months. This tAvo- month lapse is required so that proposed petitions Avill be Avell thought out and Avill Iuja'c lasting value.
