Sabra, from Grantsboro, N. C.,
I served as the Freshman Class Dance
'Marshal, and she was a member of
the Y. W. C. A. last year. Sabra is
■also a member of the choir, and she
serves on the Belles staff as a feature
writer.
From Durham, N. C., Betsy is the
fice president of the Sophomore
Class. She is a member of the choir,
the Glee Club, and the Ensemble.
Betsy is on the literary staff of the
Muse, and she is also on the Stage-
coach staff.
Margaret, the newly elected presi-
pnt of the Sophomore Class, is from
hayetteville, N. C. She is a member
of the Y. W. C. A., and she is also
ou the Belles staff. Last year Mar-
§arct Was the chairman of the food
committee for the Freshman-Sopho-
tnore Dance.
Jane, from Greensboro, N. C., was
the chairman of the Freshman-Soph-
ornore dance last year, and she was
pn the Freshman representative on
May Court. Jane is a member of
choir. Glee Club, and the Y.
• C. A. She is also a feature writer

May Court Ejected By Student Body
Miss Elizabeth Gunter Downey, a
senior from Jacksonville, North Car
olina, was recently elected by the
student body as May Queen for 1966
1967. This is Elizabeth’s second year
at St. Mary’s, and she is active in
the Dramatics Club and the Grand
daughter’s Club. Elizabeth’s interests
include swimming, water skiing,
tennis and horseback riding. She
plans to transfer to the University of
North Carolina after her graduation
from St. Mary’s.
Miss Laura Frances Whitley, a
senior Day Student from Raleigh, was
elected blaid of Honor. Laura is a
counselor for the Day Students this
year, and she is presently ser\’ing as
the Senior Dance Marshal. Laura
is also a member of the Cold Cuts.
Members of the May Court for
1966-1967 are Miss Margaret Toccoa
Gray, a sophomore from Whiteville,
N. C.; Miss Debra Rae Grove, a
junior from Wilmington, N. C.; Miss
Margaret Elaine Isley, a senior from

Juniors Plan
White £lephant
Sale; Circus Theme
Thursday, January 5 is the day to
mark on your calendar as one of
special importance. The Junior Class
is holding its annual White Elephant
Sale in the gym from 9:30 to
10:30 p.m.
The theme this year is “The Cir
cus,” and the girls are working hard
to make the sale a gala affair. For
the past two weeks juniors have been
collecting items which will be sold
at bargain prices to everyone.
There are nine committees which
are responsible for the various phases
of the sale. Committee chairmen have
been appointed and every member
of the Junior Class is serving on one
of the following committees: Clean-
Up: chairmen; Lou Carter, Nancy
Matthews; Decorations: chairmen;
Rose Ann Thompson, Celie Smith;
Collection of Articles: Susan Davis,
Gayle Sellers; Publicity: Susan

The purpose of the White Ele
phant Sale is to raise money for the
Junior Class banquet, school gifts,
and any other financial needs which
might arise during the year. There
will be a cake given to the two girls
with winning raffle tickets.

The Muse
The literary magazine of St. Mary’s
The Muse, will make its debut for
the current school year right after the
Christmas holidays. Sally Hurst and
the staff members are working dili
gently to make the coming issue of
The Muse quite different from any
other issue. The second issue will
be published as usual at the end of
May.
Little Store Has New Hours
Melvin’s Pharmacy, our Little
Store, has recently made changes in
their opening and closing hours.
They now open on weekdays and
Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. and close at
9:00 p.m. On Sundays they are open
from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m.
Fraternity Sweetheart
and Little Sister
Sherrill Griffin, former St. Mary’s
student (1966 graduate), has been
elected the Kappa Sigma Sweetheart
at N.C. State. Jeannie Hudson was
chosen as a Little Sister to the SAE
chapter at State. She is presently a
junior on Second West Rock.
