PUBLICATION EDITORS ELECTED, NANCY MATTHEWS IS TO BE ASSEMBLY CHAIRMAN As the Student Government Asso ciation elections are nearing comple tion, the positions of Assembly Chair man and editors of the various school publications for 1967-1968 have been filled. The girls filling these offices were elected by the votes of the en tire student hody, and all of the girls were nominated as candidates hy the Nominating Committee. The new Assembly Chairman is Miss Nancy Matthews, a junior from Atlanta, Georgia. Nancy’s chief duties will be to plan and preside over the weekday assembly programs. During her junior year at St. Mary’s, Nancy bas been a member of Orchesis, and she has served as the editor of the typing staff of The Stagecoach. Nancy was a contestant in the recent Clamour Contest, and she was named to the St. Mary’s Honor Roll in recognition of her academic achievement. Carolina. Lyndee has gained much experience by working with her high school newspaper and by serving on the news staff of the 1966-67 Belles. ^ Lyndee is also a member of the Granddaughters’ Club, the Young Democrats Club, the Y.W.C.A., and the Sigma team. Miss Alice Smith, a junior from Columbia, South Carolina, was elect ed Editor of The Muse, the school’s literary publication. Alice is a mem ber of the writing staff of The Muse, and she will assist the current editor in the publication of the May issue. During her high school years, Alice served on the Student Council and wrote for her school’s literary year book. She has also written for the National Poetry and National Essay Anthologies, and she has had one of her short stories published in Amer ican Girl. Miss Bobbie Bell of New Bern, was elected Editor of the Stagecoach, the school yearbook. Bobbie is a member of the Junior Class, but this is her third year at St. Mary’s. Bobbie has worked on The Stage coach staff during all of her three years at St. Mary’s, serving as a typ ist for one year and as assistant class editor for two years. In addition to serving on The Muse staff, Alice is an acolyte, a member of the Drama Club, 'and a member of the Mu team. Alice has also been named to the 1 lonor Roll each quarter of her junior year. In addition, Bobbie is the circula tion editor of The Belles and a Sigma cheerleader. She has been named to the St. Mary’s I lonor Roll during each quarter of her junior year. All year the freshmen work toward this dance. The slave sale was held earlier this year to raise money for the dance. The combo featured at the dance was “The Impacts.” Mrs. Dosher, the Freshman Class advisor, and the en tire class worked hard to make the dance — successful. J.C., which was held on Tuesday, April 11th at 6:00. Special guests for the event were Miss Richardson, Dr. and Mrs. Stone, Mr. Connelly, and Mr. and Mrs. Baird. Arabella Nash, president of the Junior Class, welcomed the guests. Toasts were made by certain students to the officers of the class. After a delicious meal, entertain ment was provided by a “fashion show” which traced the stylish clothes of the girls of St. Marx's since her beginning in 1847. Background music, popular during each era, accompanied the presen tations.
