MARY’S May 1^1' 5^ ■ r :i I ANNUALS DISTEIBUTED EAELY THIS YEAE On Wednesday, May 14, tlie 1968-69 edition of the Stagecoach was dedicated in the Publications Assembly and tlien distributed to the students. The annual was ded icated to I)r. Stone as another tribute to the fruitful years which he has spent as the president of St. Maiw’s. This year the annual staff rather than the senior class voted on the dedication ; this pro cedure will be continued. There were many changes in the annual this year: a dark green cover, a different introduction, more candid mood shots, color pic tures, “kickers” at the bottom of each page which gave the topic of the page, and a contemporary presentation of May Day activi ties. Another change in procedure this year was the di.stribution of the annuals before class day. This was done because the staff felt that the annual belonged to the be pre student whole school and should seuted when the entire body was jiresent. The annual was published by the American Yearbook Company in Cambridge, Maryland. At the close of school, Mary Vance, IMarsh Pulley, and Lucia Drury will travel to Cambridge to work with the company in drawing up the plans for next vear’s annual NEW COLD CUTS CAN EVEN STOP TRAFFIC! ORIGINAL SEVEN CHOSEN TENNIS TEAM COMPLETES SEASON The 1968-1969 St. Mary’s Ten nis Team has again demonstrated its superior abilities. Competing against Meredith, Atlantic Christ ian, Carolina, and UXC-G, the St. Mary’s renowned Tennis Team won every match except for the one battle with UXC-G, a close de feat with the final score 6-5. Under the sponsorship of Miss Jones, the Tennis Team shows promise for posterity: remaining members of the team include Jo anne Peacock, Brett Elebash, Walker Holmes, Mary Strange, Kack Harrison, and Sally Lennon. Mart.v Eskridge revealed her opinion of the unusual element that the Tennis Team exemplifies when she said, “Because of the spirit and enthusiasm the Tennis Team has, it’s been one of the most fun things I’ve participated in at St. Marv’s !” On Wednesday, May 7th, the Hut was the scene for the audition of junior girls who wanted to be members of the Cold Cuts for next year. Approximately twenty-five girls tried out for the new places with the seven original instru ments. In assembly Mondav, ^Mav 12th, the Xew Cold Cuts of 1969- 70 were announced. This year the ilu’s had the plaque returned, and a Letter Club baiKiuet was held on May 8 with awards, toasts, food, and en tertainment to honor them as well as the losers. i Awards for specific sports were given: for volleyball, Cuj John son ; softball, Xancy Biggs; speed- ball, Dongie Douglass; basketball, Cuj Johnson; golf, Xancy Biggs; bowling, Jane Blackmore; swim ming, Sweetie Seifart; ca{)erettes, Judy Biggers; dance, Susan Lutz; ping-pong and badminton, Jo Ann Peacock; bridge, Fran Britt and Suzanne Greene; archery, Am.v Carr; tennis, singles, Jo Ann Pea cock; tennis doubles, Brett Ele bash and Cuj Johnson. The three top Mu scorers were Dougie Doug lass, Cuj -Johnson, and Xanev Biggs.
