This year the Young Democrats
Club’s attention has been focused
on one little boy. Through apply
ing to the Christian Children’s
Fund, an organization Avhich gives
aid and guidance to unfortunate
children all over the Avorld, YDC
members Avere able to “adopt” a
child. The Christian Children’s
Fund has a list of over 80,000
children: each child is an innocent
victim of some kind of tragedy—
Avar, disaster, no parents, and
many other destitute conditions.
Through a sponsor’s aid a child is
helped to escape from a life of
poverty and misery.
Our little boy is named Ching-
Po, and he lives in TaiAvan. Ching-
Po, Avhose father is dead, liAms
Avith his mother Avho is in poor
health and cannot Avork to sup
port her family. Although the
Christian Children’s Fund pro
vides orphanages for many chil
dren, the Family Helper Project
Avas used in Ching-Po’s situation.
The purpose of the Family Helper
Project is to keep the family to
gether and to give a child an op
portunity to live in his OAvn home
in an atmosphere of family love.
Ching-Po was born on March 1,
1958. From his personal informa
tion story it Avas learned that he
is noAV in the sixth grade, and his
favorite subject is Chinese. His
health is fair and progress is good.
He has the chores of washing
dishes and SAveeping, and his fa
vorite game is dodge ball.
The Young Democrats Club
gives tAvelve dollars a month in
support of Ching-Po. In general,
the child receives food, clothing,
medical care, education, and
school supplies. The most import
ant aspect of the aid is that it
gives Ching-Po an opportunity to
groAv up under his mother’s care.
To continue our support of the
child Ave must raise one hundred
dollars this year. During the next
months there Avill be candy sales
held for this purpose. We would
appreciate your help.
