C h pttle Lawrence Mem, i Beginning March 23, St. Mary’s will adopt a new class absence policy which is designed to place the responsibility for attending classes on the student herself. This polic}’, which is on a trial basis for the remainder of this year and for the 1970-71 school year, is retroactive to September 1, 1969. This means that all grades lowered for reasons of cuts during the first semester will be restored. The college still believes that meeting all academic require ments, including prompt attend ance at, and participation in, all classes is an essential part of the students’ education. The main points of new absence policy are as follows: 1) College students not on aca demic probation (defined as those with a Q.P.R. higher than 1.73) be permitted optional class absences excepting days of announced test ing. 2) The determining of academic probation will be made at the end of each quarter. 3) Juniors are permitted only one class absence per credit hour during the first semester at St. Mary’s. 4) College students who place themselves on academic probation five new members mops. Ann Courtney, who plays the rolling pins, is from Greensboro. She is also a Caper ette. A special attraction in the Cold Cuts Assembly was the introduc tion of three new songs. These songs were “39-21-40 Shape,” “Ma ma Didn’t Lie,” and “Pink Shoe laces ” sung by Mattie Simmons. P ’ Goiinie eiiny Ilieks Mattie Darby, Jane Lp- Susan Dodd. tif V |Gehardson.
