This will be a splitting of Miss Horne’s duties, which has been needed for a long time. Miss Horne will now handle strictly ad missions, while Mr. Johnson will handle all student records, sched uling, transcripts, and grade reports. Both will help with the job of coun seling. Mr. Johnson received his B.S. from Wake Forest University and his M.S. from Peabody College. He has done additional work in English at UNC-CH and in Guidance at NCSU. He has had seven years high school teaching experience in Wake Forest, five years of English and drama at Flora MacDonald College, and four years of English at St. An drews Presbyterian College. For two years he was Director of Admissions and Registrar at Peace, and will con tinue to serve as Registrar and part- time speech instructor as he has for the past year, until he takes over his new duties at St. Mary’s. Mr. Johnson is married and has an eight-year-old boy and a thirteen- year-old girl. Miss Horne says he speaks with a southern accent, is ex tremely interested in young people, is easy to talk to, and has done a lot of counseling. He attends St. Jiles Presbyterian Church, where he is an elder and an adult Sunday School teacher. “Farmyard Fantasy” Given By Sea Saints The annual presentation of the Sea Saints synchronized swimming water-ballet show will be held on the evenings of March 30 and 31, 1971 at 8:00 p.m. in the St. Mary’s pool. The theme of this show will be “Farmyard Fantasy.’’ There will be different numbers including the opening and finale numbers. The music for this year’s program comes from various sources. Two of the numbers use music from Rod Mc- kuen records; one song comes from the recent movie, “True Grit’’; and one number is a rendition of a song from “Oklahoma” performed for the Sea Saints by Mr. Mike Bulley. The Sea Saints cordially invite each student, faculty and administra tion member to attend this perform ance either evening. Invitations will be sent out on Monday morning, March 29, 1971. The current members of the 1971 Sea Saints are Bunny Williams, Re becca Moser, Debby Frank, Claire Spinks, Sandy Clarke, Lindsay Bur ton, Betsy Brooks, Laura Crews, Girigy Philpott, Elise Hutchins, Su san Hundley, and Ruth Anne White. Sarah Hoss will be new BELLES’ Editor. Sarah Hoss has been appointed the new Editor-in-Chief of The Belles for 1971-72. Sarah, who was orig inally from Atlanta, but now resides in Ramsey, New Jersey, was very active in high school. She was on the editorial staff of the literary maga zine and president of the Latin Club. She also was a member of the Na tional Honor Society, The Beta Club, and the Ski Club. Sarah will be a senior here next year. She is presently serving as a member of the typing staff. She hopes to go to Carolina and major in Eng lish. Sarah has several new ideas for the paper including more issues, more student editorials, and more student involvement. High School Honor Society Organized Here The first St. Mary’s High School Honor Society was formed this year for sophomores who have attained a 3.5 Q. P. R. average for three se mesters. This organization recog nizes and encourages scholarship and promotes “those qualities of character reflective of the best in St. Mary’s history.” Mr. Don Roberts serves as sponsor to this society, along with Mrs. S. A. Henderson and Mrs. Nancy Smith as election committee members. The members of the organization include Roberta Blue, President; Har riett Cowper, Vice-President; Betsy Brooks, Secretary-Treasurer; Mary Graham Andrews, Lind Coppage, Lide Doffermyer, Nell Jordan, Mar sha Ann McElrath, Ann Reesman, Isabel Scott, and Mary Ethel Valone.
