PAGE 2 BELLES OP ST. MARY’S Ap MUSICAL NOTES: UNIVERSITY CHAMBER SINGERS TO PERpOK^i By Betsy Haywood St. Mary’s has a varied schedule of musical events planned for the remainder of the year. On Sunday, April 8, at 8 p.m. the University Chamber Singers from Chapel Hill will appear in concert in Pittman Auditorium. Directed hy Stafford Wing, the group will first perform several 20th century works entitled “madrigals and chansons”. These will be followed by lute songs and medieval French chansons. Pianist Michael Zenge, of the Music Department Fac ulty of UNC, will join the singers after inter mission in performance of Brahms’ “Zigeuner- lieder,” opus 103. The Chamber Singers are ac claimed as exceptional singing musicians and will certainly give an enjoyable concert. Admis sion is free and the public is invited. The con cert will not be required, but it is hoped that there will be enough interested students that we can provide an audience of “measurable size” for this fine group. Get some exfwsure to culture while the opportunity is present! The February 21st production of Russell Broughton’s Centennial Cantata was a success.
