girls will be well prepared for
Uiese courses when they go on
to other schools.
Girls’ schools, in his
estimation, are important
because without all the guys,
the girls are given a chance to
develop their leadership
abilities and 1 academic
talents. St. Mary’s girls can
participate in the revolution of
thought concerning women
and their role in society.
The Davis’ son, John, said
that it was a “weird” ex
perience living on a girls’
campus. He said that all the
girls have been extremely
nice to him.
Mr. and Mrs. Davis both
said that the hardest thing will
be to say good-bye, but they
look forward to all the new
experiences of a parish that
isn’t so newly developed.
There will be a lot of elderly
people which add to the
Davis saia uiui u.x= stability of a congregation,

St Mary’s will suffer a
great ioss next year when Mr.
and Mrs. Davis leave. Mr.
Davis will become the rector
of Holy Innocents Church in
Henderson, N.C. The Davis
family have been with us for
the past two years.
Before coming to SMC,
Mr. Davis was the rector of
Christchurch in Rocky Mount
for four years, then St.
Stephen’s in Durham for 14
years. Both of these two
congregations were very
small and newly-formed. This
was one of the differences
between St. Mary’s, St.
Stephen’s and Christ Church.
Mr. Davis said that one of
the most enjoyable things
about the life at St. Marys
was the opportunity to t^ch
which he never had done
before. He also loved the
nexibility of services, such as
