Coles Hines Overnight Privileges Changed When the seniors returned to school this year, they were prepared for those long Chapel Hill weekends. These weekends were cut short, however, by the an nouncement that Thursday and Sunday overnights were a thing of the past. President Rice and Dean Miller made this decision, which they felt to be in the academic interest of the students. Since the seniors had a different attitude, a meeting was held between President Rice and the Senior Class. After each side aired its views. President Rice suggested that a compromise would be possible. Following a great deal of discussion, tae Senior Class decided to submit two petitions to President Rice' and the Legislative Body. One petition asked for self- determining hours on Thurs day nights, and the other called for a limited number of' Thursday overnights and extended Thursday night, curfews. Although neither petition was totally accepted, a compromise was reached. Seniors are now allowed self- determining hours on Thurs day nights provided they maintain a 2.0 QPR and have parental permission.
