From the beginning the au dience was riveted by the familiar diusic which seemed so ap propriate in the setting of the ‘Chapel. Soloists Beth Ford and Jennifer Simpson were especially Qood and made all of us from SMC proud. Hunter Hensely and Dupree Jones also gave outstanding per formances. The band featured was “The Hadmatters,” a group of students from Chapel Hill who play frequently in the Triangle area They played classic tunes from the 60’s and 70’s as well as current favorites. “Everybody loves The Hadmatters’ and it made it a lot easier to get a date because you only had to tell the guy that ‘The Hadmatters’ were playing and he Immediately accepted,” says Carolyn Bullock. Dates also like the theme of the formal, “Born to be Wild” because it was unusual, different, and portrayed the rebellious, free-spirited attitude of a Saint Mary’s girl on this enchanted evening. Ginny James notes, “In all four years I’ve been here. It was the best SGA of all.” It is evident that the time, enthusiasm and effort put into this dance by the SGA—as well as the faculty’s participation—made the formal spectacular. As Brooke Jaeger says, “The faculty was very festive by dressing Harley David- Davidson paraphernalia” Hopefully in the future, every SGA formal will proceed as smoothly as this ona. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year St"
