I^age Four Intra-Mural Teams Start Basketball Intra-mural basketball, the most popular winter sport on the campus, got under way in Mc Connell gym last week with two leagues composed of six teams each going into action. Each team is limited to eight players and anyone is eligible. Two games are to be played each day, one in each league. This will give all teams an opportunity to play at least once a week. Intra-mural basketball was very popular last year and even more interest is being shown this year. The Smith House boys are the defending champs but they will face strong competition in John Ray’s C-II team and the entry from Hay wood county. C. G. Ray is referee and has complete charge of all games. The two leagues and their teams and the managers are: American League Town I Burton Town II — Yancey Town III Hornsby Melrose I Coachman Brown I Edwards Haywood Leatherwood National League C-I Singletary C-II Ray Melrose ll Sams Brown II Elmore Smith House .L. We are again happy to bring to you your favorite sports commentator direct from his sport’s bureau located in the third booth of Roy’s Cafe in down town Mars Hill, N. C. This program is made possible through your endorsement of that famous Floy-Joy breakfa.st com pound. And now take it away! Freddie Shanks! “Scoop” Shanks: Hi. Folks! Let’s go to press. But don’t hurry Kathleen. Just received a wire from Rogersville Tech, as to their basketball prospects. They have a six-foot four center who gets the tip-off like Wallis Simpson got Ed ward the Eighth, and two guards who take off like Snyder’s cat. Meow! This afternoon I witnessed a thrilling grid match in which the McGlook Broom Factory swept California Creek off their feet, giving them a clean sweep of the series. It was a battle of wits all the way through, Halfs vs. Nit’s. McGlook’s attack was featured by Wheatbread’s slices off-tackle for long grains—pardon me, gains. Well folks, this winds down my series of wide-casts, for tomorrow. I must be off to the George Wash ington football camp to take a hand in the Gravy Bowl, so for further details keep in touch with the Washington Herald. 21 Delegates From Mars Hill Attending (Continued from page 1) Moore, Dorothy Drake, Bill Angell, Mary Ruth Hardy, Lloma Nell Mullins, Margaret Sparks, Worth Grant, Lillian Porter, Rose mary Morgan, Harold Lindsey, ■k I Students' Choice ! It is reported that Chiang-Kai-Shek, strong man of China, has flown to Hong Kong in an effort to obtain British aid in mediation for a “peace with honor” for China. It is also rumored that many of the great Chinese war lords have withdrawn their support from Chiang. Thus the turbulent world drifts precariously over rocks of inter national strife.
