His most outsanding trait is his earnest manner of speech characterized by the wrinkles in his handsome brow denot ing deep thought. Frank H. Venters President of the C-II Class, officer in Forensic Council and Philomathian Literary Society, and member of other organi zations, he hails from Eliza beth City, N. C., where he graduated as salutatorian from High School. Frank has been a debater for three years, and is known as one of the best speakers on the campus. Inci dentally, Frank is the second boy from Elizabeth City to be elected C-II president in three years. His pleasant manner and his abilities make him pop ular in both classes. His don't especially-care-fors in clude "No Name Jive, II," beef, laundry service, and cobbers. He likes good clothes, chocolate sundaes, and brunettes. "Next to the coast, Mike Mars Hill first." Founders’ Day Program Cecil J. Hill is quite willing to take over Bruce Brown's place —any time . . . Julia Smoak is having stiff competition with V/alter Harrellson since he nosed out Shive as S. P. Mr. Wall was the leading figure in having the beautiful structure erected. He is chairman of the Building Committee. Other members are Mr. R. C. Huffman and Mrs. Rush Stroupe. The Sci ence Building is a fireproof, three-story brick structure that houses the Mathematics, Che mistry, Biology, Physics, and Home Economics Departments of the College. Erskine College freshmen football squad invades Mars Hill to meet the Lions at 2:30 P.M. in another feature of the annual Pounders' Day pro- 1 gram. The South Carolinians will be out to avenge the set back handed them by the Lions last year. All local and visiting alumni of the Euthalian and Philoma thian Societies will assemble at 7:30 P.M. for the dedication . of the new halls in the Science Building. The halls of both so cieties are beautifully con structed and many returning friends will be able to see them for the first time. A hearty welcome is exten ded to all students and friends of the College to join in the activities of Founders' Day anc to make this day one to be long remembered among fond memories of Mars Hill. Out Of The Lion’s Den (Continued from page 3) that Margies" do not grow in the middle of football fields. The Lions will clash with the Erskine Preshmen for the third time this year in the Founders' Day game, Satur day, Oct. 12. The kick-off will be at 3:00 P.M. The Lions scrimmaged Erskine on Satur day. Sept. 7. The score woulc have been tied, one touch down apiece, but for a techni cality which lost the Lions their score. Mars Hill played far more superior ball than the Seceders despite the score. The average was 4 to 1 in first-downs in favor of the Lions. The following Eriday, Sept. 13, the two teams scrimmaged again. The Seceders came back in an improved condi tion, but the Lions held their ground well, considering indi vidual experience. All in all, we are due for an interesting game on Pounders' Day.
