ing his class. Mr. Wood taught
a class devoted to Baptist be
liefs. His class, as always,
was entertaining as well as
enlightening and instructive.
Mr. McLeod conducted a class
in personal evangelism. This
class drew many students be
cause of the particular interest
of our students in this phase of
Christian endeavor.
The other classes taught this
year are listed below:
Planning a Life. Dr. Pierce;
Deepening the Spiritual Life,
Mr. Kendall; Church Music,
Mrs. J. B. Huff; Our Bible, Mr.
Lynch; Investments in Chris
tian Living, Mr. Lee; B.Y.P.U.

Mr. J. B. Huff; Christ in Latin

It is believed that the study
courses have helped to en

of training for the service of
Christ and to make us more
deeply aware of the privilege
that is ours to share in the
Training Union program on
our campus.

lows, with entirely new read
ings, and all contestants must
be silver medal winners. If
there are seven contestants in
this, it is possible for three to
win gold medals. If there are
enough gold medal winners,
they may compete in a state
contest to be held at Elizabeth
City, North Carolina, the winner
of which is awarded a pearl
medal. This contest will
precede a national meet, and
this winner will be awarded a
diamond medal.
A Mors Hill boy won the
highest national award several
years ago. You can do as
well as any other. The books
containing the readings ore in
the library reserve book room,
and it is hoped that each so
ciety group will present its
contest before Anniversary.
A commencement award is
also given to the two winners
of the Philomathian-Euthalian
contest and the Nonpareil-Clio
contest at the end of the year.
According to Mr. McLeod,
themes should be like a girl's
skirt—long enough to cover
the subject but short enough
to be interesting.
