Web*ter’* Collegiate describes an apple as a fleshy, round, red or yellow, edible pome fruit, belonging to the Malus genus. A kind of apple is the love-apple (known, to us as educated folk, as tomato). W E L C O MARS ME T HILL Student* And Faculty Cody’s Store John Cody, Prop. Headquarters For Clothing Shoe* . But, before we go on, “stewed apple” has no connection at all with cider or apple-jack. Seems like Betty Bullock and Kitty Rhea took big bites out of the love-apple recently. It evi dently tasted good ’cause they’re sporting nice-sized rings — third finger left hand. ’Twas heard that A1 Dennis, Kitty’s swain, is going to settle in Florida to raise oranges and . . . you guessed it. Rotten apples to the “Vets” who ignore the Mars Hill lassies. Overheard conversation: “You’d think those boys had been chased all over the world by women.” Ah, sigh, must be wonderful to be the “apple of his eye,” M.H.C. gals say of John Wallace. “What a gorgeous hunk of man.” (And we wish we could quote certain people). Speaking of juicy apples, you see C-I Jan Zimmerman getting around not only in the dining room but everywhere. When you see Carl Isaacs, you may think he’s the star fullback on the football team . .. but, he’s only going to music class. Wonder if Miss Stringfleld likes apples, Carl? It isn’t “Apple Blossom Time,” but Vance Price, Forest City Flash, lately made the rash state ment that he and a certain Win ston gal will be “vowing vows” soon. Could that be just a lot of applesauce? Twin-apples, Wayne and Bain Jones, had better look out for r When The Occasion Call* For Flower* Consult Our Agent Books . STATIONERY . Julian claims he has the advantage because he lives closer. Jerry Fields (Miss), Quinten Roosevelt Harper, and Bruce Car- tier. Odds have it that Harper will win out. Not all apples come in round red packages, as is the case of Evelyn Stapleton, who is just L.L.L. to us. (Long, Lean, and Lovable). Jimmy Pegram seems to have had his apple-basket turned over, but, now it seems that he has de cided not to put all his apples in one basket. Nancy Teague, new cheer leader, is seen around the campus with Willard Jordon. Better watch that Gawgia boy!!!! Wanda Campbell has some in teresting stories to tell after a date with Roy Beddingfield (??). J. C. Mitchell has some compe tition from Frank Yandel and his roommate, Glenn Clanton ... One on the football field, and the other in another field!!!! Bill (The Voice) Stapleton and Doris Jones apparently enjoy each other’s company. To Phil Weeks, the peppy go- getter of the week, goes a bushel of apples. We ought to have some real school spirit with him as head cheer-leader.
