Page Four THE HILLTOP, MARS HILL COLLEGE, MARS HILL, N. C. Sept. 30, 194r^^ Alumni Lead Varied Lives In browsing through the files here in the Alumni Office it is surprising what accomplished per sons were once, like us struggling over a theme about themselves, or wrinkling their brows over “Beo wulf.” Just by using the imagination, we can tour the world—visiting former Mars Hillians. Beginning here on the campus, we visit Mother Sparks and find that the Margaret Sparks, who writes articles for “The Training Union Magazine,” is her daughter and a former student. Traveling into Virginia, we stop long enough to see State Senator John S. Battle working hard as a candidate for governor of Virginia. Leaving our country for Paris, France, and looking into the Foreign Ministers’ Conference, we discover that the executive secre tary of the American Delegation is a former student from Hender sonville, Bruce Grainger. On around the globe, in Japan, we find E. Luther Copeland, who, with his wife, has just begun his .work as missionary to the Japanese. Arriving back in our country, in Washington, D. C., we discover that a government interpreter is Tanya Koratune, of Kiev, Russia, who was a student here in 1938. These and many more young men and women began their careers at Mars Hill.
