MarsHill Honor Clubs Hold Monthly Meetings; Forensic Team Programs Include Film Strips, Music, Drama In Tournament The honor clubs held their monthly meetings Monday and Members of the Mars Hill Tuesday nights, April eleven and twelve. The Scriblerus Club College debating team and en- met in Huffman parlor and presented a program of “Literature trants in speaking contests are and Life in Drama.” The program included two plays, Andro mache by Jean Racine and Comedy o^ Errors by William Shake speare. A final portion of the program was a score from the mu sical Oklahoma by Rodgers and Hammerstein. Refreshments were served after the program. The French Club met at Mrs. Nona Roberts home, where slides were shown of the scenic places in and around Paris, in cluding the Eiffel Tower and the Triumphal Arch. A social hour was held after the program. The Spanish Club met at Mrs. Fish’s home, where the theme of the program centered around the various types of Spanish mu sic and dances. 7’he program included talks on La Musica del Peru, Los Bailes de Latino- america, and Los Bailes de Mex ico. They heard music from a Chilean folk dance La Gueca, the music of the Mexican Hat Dance, La Raspa. Afterwards the group listened to a selection of Spanish folk songs. A picnic is being planned for the next meeting. The Bible Club members dis cussed Judaism. The members of the Business Club visited the New York Stock Exchange Branch in Asheville on Tuesday afternoon, April 12. After a lecture on the stock ex change, the girls had time to shop before having supper in the S8cW Cafeteria. The members of the Orpheon Club saw two filmstrips on Bee thoven, and the banjos of the mountains. Mr. Taylor showed the mem bers of the Science Club slides on plant life in Western North Carolina. He also had a few shots of the semi-deserts of the West. The debaters are matched with teams from leading col leges of the eastern and midwest- ern United States for five pre liminary rounds of debate on the intercollegiate debate prop osition, Resolved: That the United States should adopt a program of compulsory health insurance for all citizens. Members of the Mars Hill College debating team attend ing are Harold Nesbitt and Paul Clark, who are debating affirma tive, and Audrey Bunce and Johnny Grier who compo.se the negative team. John Reagan is representing Mars Hill in the after dinner speaking, oratory, and extempo raneous speaking contests. An- nemarie Nussbaumer is entering the women’s divisions of the oratory, extemporaneous speak ing, and oral interpretation con tests. Entrants in speaking con tests as well as debates are Har old Nesbitt in oral interpreta tion, Audrey Bunce in extempo raneous speaking and oratory, Johnny Grier in after dinner speaking, and Paul Clark in ex temporaneous speaking.
