Money and pain, mon
ey and pain. It seems
that where you find the
first, ultimately you
find the second. Such
seems to be the case
concerning the money to
be alloted to the aca
demic classes.
It has been custo-'
mary in the past to
give the classes their
money in late November
ed out that the senior
gift and senior scho
larship have been tern
porarily postponed due
to the confusion con
cerning the funds.
Ed Sams of the
Junior class explained
that they, haven't been
able to book a band
since they didn't know
how much money they
were getting. If the
money is not received

mary that the Junior
and Senior class each
receive 35% of the
$1.50 per student al
loted and the Fresiiman
and Sophomore class
each receive 15%. Such
has not been the case
this year.
Duane Cook, Presi
dent of SGA, explained
why the money has not
been alloted yet.
He said that he did not
receive the money from
the business office un
til two weeks ago. He
also said that the mon
ey alloted to the
classes will be based
upon the traditional
35-35-15-15 basis. The
budget will be present
ed to the Senate on
February 26.
This seems to pre
sent some problems for
the classes. Thad
Strom, President of the
Senior Class, pointed
out numerous difficul
ties that not getting
his money created.
Thad stated that ha
couldn't give a party
for the December grad
uates since he had only
$25.00 in his budget.
Two parties he had
planned have been de
layed since he doesn't
know when or how much
money he will receive.
Furthermore, he point-

After
all this a few facts
seem clear to me
Changing the method of
alioting money may be
necessary and proper
However, the old sys
tem seems to have
worked well in the
past. Even if these
changes were mandatory
they should not inhibit
the classes during the
transition. It is
clear that this is what
is happening now. Why
couldn't Mr. Cook for
mulate a budget before
he was given the money
Surely Mrs. Henderson
could give an accurate
approximation of the
amount SGA would re
ceive. Then he could
at least tell the
classes how much they
would receive and hast
en distribution when
the/ money arrived
Also, the manner that
the whole situation is
being handled seems
to be piety at it's
best. It's inconceiv
able to me that so many
officials could become
angry if everything
was explained calmly
and completely. Even
Vice-President Larry
Pike answered "no com

Last Sunday evening
I had a few of my
friends over to the
house to watch "Las
sie." The program had
been over for some time
and we had just about
finished replaying Las
sie's most recent ex
ploits when the conver
sation was inflamed by
a remark from Marquette
a friend of mine who
only began joining our
group last semester,
considering! Marquette, who is part
greyhound, is generally
a quiet type, so it
came as a shock to most
of us to see him so up
set.
"Dammit, it burns me
up to think of how we
greyhounds are treated
at times I" Marquette
suddenly blurted out.
Before we reacted,
Marquette continued.
"I bet you guys nev
er gave a second
thought to the way
greyhounds are used a-
round some parts I"
"I don't really un
derstand what you
mean," I answered meek
ly*
"I suppose you never
bothered to wonder why
you never see any grey
hounds on T.V. shows.
T.V. is full of col
lies, German shepherds,
and sheep dogs, but
dare you to find me one
greyhound I" said Mar
quette with increasing
emotion.
"I guess that's all
true enough," said Fi-
do, "but I still don't
know what you're driv
ing at."
"You clods think
just like I expected,"
groaned Marquette.
'Don't you think a race
greyhound is capable of
entering fields such as
police work or seeing
eye dogs— anything be
sides that stupid bus
lines,"
"But Marquette,
you're wrong," I pro
tested. "Hundreds of
greyhounds are used at
the dog races in Flori
da and California."

Dear Editor:
Many of the students
o f this campus have be
come concerned with the
Mars Hill College radio
station, WMHC. It is
obvious that few stu

tation because the
lours are irregular,

Around campus and
around the world today
there is much talk
about women's libera
tion and how the women
are mistreated in so
ciety. I think ' a
glance into this matter
will solve a lot of
problems.
First, the fact that
women are inferior to
men should be consi
dered primary. One can
more important then he
would have created her
first.
Second, how many
women can you find in
the National Basketball
Association? If they
thought they could do
the job, I am positive
that they would have
tried out for a posi
tion. But, they didn't
and they are not.
Thus, women are
running around in hopes
of being on time I
There is no set

pus. Are we using time

All this evidence
points to the fact that
there is dire need for
