The memories of Sally, the beauty of such a warm and wonderful person, are nOw for us to cher ish. Sally was a good friend. When you've got a friend, you've got the world. Let us all cher ish memories of our friend. SALLY BELL MOFFITT Authorities are still probing the mystery sur rounding the death of Sally Bell Moffitt, 18 year old sophomore. Miss Moffitt's body was found early Friday morning, Oct. 12, by two highway construction workers as they arrived at a work site. State Bureau of In vestigation officials received their lab re port late Thursday but would not comment on what the document con tained. Miss Moffitt was found at the intersec tion of highways 213 and 19 & 23 where she had been dragged approxi mately 50 feet across a graded area, down a small embankment, and left near a small WMHC to Air Soon Way, this is the ®®nted renQ_"" reworked and ig gy inside. .This en^g bo make a very evening, so by Jim Baker Mars Hill students that enjoyed listening to WMHC last ye*ar (and I believe they are both back this year) are really in for a treat. The old college radio station is no more, for instead of the Rinky- dlnk-chicken-wire- and flashlight battery con coction that^ polluted the airwaves from high atop the Fine Arts Buil ding in days past, we find now a well organ ized and well equipped radio station of pro fessional standards. Before you laugh at this unimaginable fact, let me call your attention to the new facilities that will make WMHC what it is to become (be that it may). This year, the broadcasts will reach every dorm, and arrange ments are being discuss ed for broadcasting to the cafeteria and stud ent center as well. To accomplish this. Station Manager Ray Gullisk has purchased 5 new trans mitters and 2 booster signal devices. We stu dents who worked at WMHC last year and laughingly referred to ourselves as "BJ's" will always have fond memories of realizing our broadcast range could be nearly doubled by opening the station's windows and turning up the volume a bit. And though it was true that WMHC's top 40 chart was World War II surplus, now the records are current releases being supplied by such well known corporations as AtCO, Elektra, Grunt, and Atlantic. Tlie old station oper ating hours extended from the time someone got around to playing DJ until he got bored and left. Now WMHC will be operating on a schedule with definite hours and programs. According to Ernie Howard, WMHC Chief Engineer (Dammit the Dog former holder of this position, retired at the end of last year) the station will prob ably be on a 24 hour 6 day a week basis. Per sonally, I doubt this; I remember how faithfully some DJ's managed to "forget" their early morning shows last year. Speaking of DJ's remem ber how much fun it was to hear guys trying to swallow the microphone? Well, that past time is gone. The radio announ cers now have had to un dergo at least 5 hours of practice time in a simulated "live" broad cast and they have been properly trained and in structed by we who had absolutely no training last year.... wait a minute, does that make The programming of WMHC this year will con sist of easy listening and rock music, and I Intend to sneak a class ical number or two in occasionally. Regular features will Include the ever popular album side, the inspirational Power Lind, and the slc^ kening commercials. Rick Hlnshaw, world reknowned DJ who abounds in obscurity, invites all those who are hard of hearing to listen to WMHC regularly. If you have, any questions con cerning the station, call 232, but no one will answer, because the station is not operating at this time. When will WMHC go on the air? Pa tience, my child, a num ber of vital electronic parts have not yer a- rrived, so "Soon" is the only answer we can give. Be prepared for the grand opening and have your radio set on 640AM- better yet, watch tele vision. stream. An autopsy revealed the cause of death to have come from a severed pulmonary artery, which was caused by one of three broken ribs. The operation also showed that she had not been beaten or molested. A native of High Point, Miss Moffitt was an Elementary Education major, and attended Cen tral High School in High Point. Funeral services were held in First United Methodist Church of High Point where she was a member. A scholarship fund has been established in her memory. Those wish ing to contribute to the fund may do so by con- taoting Jim Cox in the Development Office.
