Bentley was presented a $3,000 unrestricted direct grant Friday from Eastman Kodak's 1974 Educational Aid Pro gram. Kodak's program a- wards grants based on the number of grad uates from institu tions who join Kodak 'within five years of their graduation and who are currently in their fifth year of ®®Ployment. Kodak contributes $750 for each undergraduate or graduate year comple ted at a privately Supported school. This year, Kodak has awarded $735,000 in Unrestricted direct grants to privately supported institu tions . The grant was made the name of Stanley R. Sellstrom, Asheville native who joined Tennessee Eastman Company in ^969, following his graduation from Mars ^tll. Sellstrom is a '^°®t accountant with ^e Kingsport firm. ^old Corn, also an alumnus, made the pre sentation. Kodak's commitment ® higher education $3 000 FOR GRANTS is long-standing, dat ing back to the early 1900's. It's Educa tion Aid Program was formally established • in 1955 and has ex panded to meet the mounting financial pressures of educa tional institutions and the need of so ciety for capable graduates from these institutions. The Educational Aid Program includes: un restricted direct grants that help de fray cin institution's cost of educating college students now employed by Kodak; grants for graduate education and re search at the doctor al level in chemistry; physics, engineering and interdisciplinary fields: special grants to major col lege and universities for capital improve ments , and endowment campaigns and to lib eral arts schools of fering curricula of particular interest to the company and located near the com pany's major manufac turing and administra tive facilities; and contributions to se lected educational associations that foster the goals of education. The following twen ty six persons were selected: Susan Christine Benjamin a Music Performance major from Charlotte N.C.; Susan is active in the MHC Chorus, Alpha Chi, Student Court, and is present editor of the Laurel. James Ray Bennett a Physical Education major from Henderson ville, N.C., Ray is active in Pi Sigma Phi and the CSM Choir. James Broadus Binton, Jr. a Music Education major from Forest City, N.C.^ Jim is active in the College Choir and CSM Robert Hamrick Causby a religion major from Shelby, N.C., Bob is active in C.S.M., the C.S.M.
