Souther(ace guitarist, singer, producer of Linda Ronstandt), Chris Hillman (ex-Byrds, Plying Burrito Brothers and Manassa^ and Richis Furay (best known for his Work with Poco). The Result is another flawless country-pop- I'ock band with a J^eally good album to their name. If you like the Eagles, Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt or any of the other many groups ®nd combinations of this type that came Itom the Asylum Re cord Co., then you'll love this album. Musically, the band '^an't be beat. The Writing is excellent, the musicianship, in cluding back-up work ^y Paul Harris (key boards) , A1 Perkins (steel guitar/bass ), ®nd Jim Gorden (drums), is about the best you're giong to ur anywh ere. There are a couple favorites of mine -such as "Heartbreak- and "Falling in Love." These have a kittle more guts in the vocal and are tealiy altogether 'heavier." This gives them more indi- '^iduality and makes ^em stand out from ^he other nice, but Softer and more ty- P'^ial tunes such as Relieve Me." "NOT FRAGILE" Bachman-Turner Overdrive This is really similar to BTO's pre vious two albums, be ing predominately hard rock with lots of heavy riffs and mechanical guitar solos, featuring just a taste of jazz for diversion. There is a difference in the group itself, however Timmy Bachman, who played rhythm guitar on the first two BTO albvims is no longer in the band. He had been replaced by Blair Thornton, who adds an interesting dimension in playing second lead guitar. After getting used to the two guitars, there is nothing much differ ent or unusual about "Not Fragile." Side one opens with the title tune, a heavy song with which to start things off. Then comes "Rock is My Life (and this is my song)"-an intro spective look at a touring rock and roll band. The rest of the album fits into either the jazzy for mat or that of "powerhouse rock and roll"-with "You Ain't seen Nothing Yet" as the first single from this albirni. Basically, "Not Fragile" amkes it be cause it is just a little bit different. 's Who continued from page 1 Durand Smith is a Business Economics major from Columbia, S.C. Richard is in volved with the CSM. Dorothy Carol Stultz is a History major from Forest,VA. Carol is active in Alpha Chi, College Appeals Baord and is a Sena tor. College doggers prepare for performances BAILEY MOUNTAIN CLOGGERS PREPARE by Ben Liverman The Bailey Mountain Cloggers of Mars Hill College is a fairly new group, but with the talent in the team, it is rapidly gaining recognition. The team is one of eight couples, with a unique alternate sys tem, whereupon a pos sible twelve couple team is on hand for exhibitions requiring a larger team. For performances, the team, consisting of Mars Hill students, primarily does pre cision clogging for exibition. Tentative perform ances are to be de cided upon as oppor tunities arise, how ever ; three dates have already been planned for this year beginning with Sadie Hawkins Day-a supper performance. The following months will include a Charlotte trip for exhibitions in the local High Schools. Then, in February, the team will be in Atlanta for the Convention of Housing Directors of the Eastern United States. As stated by the team captain, Steve by Dottie Bumpass What it it, God? IThat is it that makes you love us? Look at us, all of us. We're all at a point in our lives when we're searching for what we are,who we are, what we can be. Every day we face something new that rattles us in our Christian shoes. Sometimes we get shook loose-a little. But God, You see some purpose for us, ALL of us, so You keep us in our shoes. We ought to be doing something for You now It's like this— we've got the Choir- they really sing for You, God-and we've got share groups and action groups and Bible study groups and we're all trying to learn and under stand more about You. Sometimes we hear from somebody who really knows You and we're touched. We even venture our on retreats to find You in the ways we don't always have time for in our everyday world. But it gets awfully hard sometimes, God. It gets hard to find You, to know You, es pecially to under stand You. All our groups and teams and brothers and sisters help a lot, but there are times, God, when we need so much to know You in a very personal way. We really like to work for You in groups and teams, but God, be fore we can do any thing for You, we've got to have You in us. We want to know be yond a shadow of a doubt that we have love and that we're free just because of Howie, "This team has more potential than any other team that I have seen," and from attending rehearsals, one can readily see that there is no limit to what these cloggers can do for Mars Hill College. The members have asked that I remind the male portion of the student body that their help is needed. The girls say that they are tired of dancing with other girls and would like some "male" partners! (They will double as instructors as well as partners.) Your love and freedom. We want to be for You, God. So right now, we pray, God, for a really deep renewal within each and every one of us here. We want to dedicate all of our efforts, whether it's group or one-on-one, to You, God. The whole thing is, God we want to make You love us, or maybe we should say, make it so You can't help but love us. Use us, God, while we use the titne You've given us. And...thanks, God I WHO uJoduP iWBlHottSHTrr. A coiweoF SeX SWOL^. nxiu* by Wob/
